Things to do - CA based?

Flying out to Cali Tuesday. Will be in San Jose staying while doing a clinic in Palo Alto (Stanford) through Saturday morning before driving down to a friend's home in Pasadena for the weekend. Then, finishing things in San Diego for another coaching training in San Diego for three days.
Most trainings are evenings and early mornings - so mostly have the late mornings and afternoons open. I do lean on attending a few MLB games and seeing some stadiums...but if anyone has a must see, please let me know!
ETA: before a reply, I have already requested this be moved to the Travel Board. My apologies.

Drive down to the Monterrey aquarium. Beautiful area there.
San Jose sucks by itself. High crime too despite what the locals may tell you

You can stay with me for a night. I live alone. Got ample space.

Rent a convertible for the trip and drive down the PCH

If you’re even remotely interested in zoos, San Diego would be worth checking out.

And 17-mile drive to Pebble Beach. And get on Pacific Coast Hwy where you can.
Used to live in Bay Area. Great area!

That’s part of the amenity package.

Spent a couple nights for work in San Jose about a year ago. Great weather and beautiful country, but downtown area was sort of dirty. Going on runs in the mornings through downtown when still dark and was amazed at the amount of rats scattering around.
I’d look for places to hike in the hills/mountain regions.

Go to the dispensary to buy some weed, pick up a pizza and eat on the beach.

Santa Cruz is close by and definitely worth a visit. There's also a kitchsy but fun spot near there called The Mystery Spot. If a fun "Americana" spot is your thing, its enjoyable.
When you venture south, definitely hit Carmel. I'm still not convinced its a real place. It beautiful. A must visit.
Skip Monterey. Sorry.
Stop in Big Sur for lunch, or just a stop. Its jaw dropping.
Before getting down to LA, Pismo Beach is a great stop, as is a little town just north of there, Avila Beach. Those are all near San Luis Opispo.
Finally, if you like cherries, you're in the land of cherries and the should be at every roadside farm stand you see. Grab yourself some.
I did a long vacation from down the California coast a few years ago. Despite their batshit crazy politicians, the central coast of California is proof God exists.
Enjoy, I'm jealous.

Those stadiums in order of my preference:
PacBell
Dodger
Petco
Angels.
I saw a play at the Pasadena Playhouse and enjoyed that. We missed dinner in the same building due to delay getting out of rental car lot at LAX. But was a nice evening.

In a way I want to do this. Mission Viejo is fertile ground in my coaching area of swimming...not overly familiar but know there is some powerhouses in the area. Not sure if David Marsh and or Gary Hall will be around this week...been trying to get up with them as well.

When in Palo Alto find some redwoods to hike in. Purisma Creek Redwood Preserve is good, LINK
The Monterrey Bay Aquarium is quite nice but a longer drive. Take CA101 to Salinas then 68 over to Monterrey. Ca 1 on the coast to St Cruz and 17 over to San Jose..
I've visiting near Monterrey today, coastal high temps are mid 60's, dress warmly until you head south.

We will be in Monterey Tuesday for a few days. Is the aquarium worth visiting with teenagers?

Definitely. The MB Aquarium puts a strong emphasis on explaining what your seeing. It's not a commercial enterprise but rather a non-profit set up about 40 years ago by local marine scientists with funding from the Packard family (Hewlett-Packard Inc). It is situated on Cannery Row which once was a thriving fishing industry industrial site. There is a nearby tourist wharf with restaurants and shops. Whale watching tours operate from the wharf. Near that is Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail, a repurposed coastal railroad.
Monterey Bay is unusual in that it reaches 3000m deep a short distance from land letting you experience open ocean conditions with just a quick boat ride. Santa Cruz is on the northern end of the Bay with a more extensive recreation wharf including carnival rides.
There are neat military facilities, but public exhibits were closed for security reasons years ago.
If you get out on Ca 1 stop at a few fruit stands. Tree-ripe stone fruit like peaches and nectarines are being harvested for local sale now and artichokes abound.

San Jose has been good as has Palo Alto. I am actually about to head to SF for a day finishing with the Giants game today. Was thinking about the Alcatraz tour.

Tour a winery. There’s a ton of them up and down the 101.
Had dinner at Stillwater overlooking the 18th and Pebble Beach. Great view. Awesome meal.
