What are some of the best beach towns or coastal areas to live? Currently staying in ocean springs and really like how secluded it is.

The wife and I have been searching and staying at areas to find someplace we may want to start over at. We do not like the crowds as we live in the middle of nowhere now.

Any feedback is appreciated!

If you want the best, crowds are just a part of it. The best attracts people..just part of the territory.

Sarasota / Siesta Key can't be beat IMO BUT it's growth is out of control.

If seclusion is something I valued neat a coastal town I might look on a bay near the gulf. Something like Ono Island in Orange Beach.

Something like this would be my preference

I guess I shouldn’t say no crowds as they are apart of that life. We have stayed on the bay side and really liked it.

Some areas seem to being exploding. I don’t know if Covid had an effect on this but I’m hoping things will even out eventually.

The bay side may be the way to go.

COVID definitely had an impact on a lot of places. People loved voting democrat then wanted to escape to a red state when they lost all their freedoms. Florida real estate is just off the charts right now and I wouldn’t even consider anything at most of the price points I’m seeing.

San Clemente, CA is an awesome area but you would have to deal with the ridiculous CA politics.

If you’re looking for solitude and aren’t worried about the temps, look into small coastal New England towns.

If you want seclusion and don't mind the weather, just about all of the coastal towns in Oregon are pretty small.

All areas seem to be off the charts right now. I’m hoping in a few years when we make a move things will have calmed down. Most places have doubled the last few years.

I know it’s way tf away but I went through Camden Maine yesterday and it’s the most amazing town I’ve ever visited.

And completely full of tourists for 4 months unless you live south of Newport.

If you don't enjoy or can't handle Pac NW weather you will not assimilate to the coastal weather which isn't as nice as the valley.

Apalachicola and the entire Forgotten Coast are absolutely awful and I would not advise anyone to go there, especially to live full time. PCB and Destin are much nicer.

Naples, Florida is the best beach town i have been to. Beaches are never really that crowded like Gulf Shores is and the water is crystal clear.

And don’t get started on the Ochlockonee River… I would advise people to stay clear of it too
