As we kick off the start of Thanksgiving week, this is one of the busiest travel weeks of the year so be prepared for lots of weather, traffic, and delays. Where is everyone headed this year? I'll be making my way back east (Jersey) on Thanksgiving morning to see the family, flying back west Monday night. Will have some turkey, go to a Devils game, and likely get ahead of Christmas shopping on black friday.

Happy thanksgiving everyone

Just flew back to Austin tonight. 3 hour delay due to MX caused me to misconnect in ATL but Delta handled it the best they could.

Driving to Dallas Wednesday and back Sunday for the holiday weekend

We drove up to Tulsa yesterday. Great town, very under rated. Headed to Medicine Park on Tuesday and then to my parents in Denton on TG day

Sounds like everyone's got some fun plans so far

I managed to get sick yesterday with a cold so holding off doing anything until my flight Thursday morning. United is only selling 4 seats to Newark, delta 6 seats to JFK. If they're oversold I'll gladly give up my seat for $$

flying to SFO Thursday morning .... rented a cabin on the Russian River. Plenty of redwoods, wine, some ocean, lunch in SF on Sunday and WC action.

I spent Thanksgiving in Ushuaia, after getting off a ship that hit the Falklands, South Georgia, and Antarctica. Incredible trip. The one thing I think I'd change is to go a little later so breeding (penguins and seals) is a little further along, though we had pristine snow so the views were terrific. Ushuaia is pretty scenic too, did a few hikes.

I had to look up where Ushuaia is, looks awesome! Any pics?? Feel free to start a trip review thread, you'll probably get a lot of questions

Have a question for everyone here. Currently scheduled on a 5pm Newark-Atlanta-Seattle Monday night with only 45 minutes in Atlanta to connect. Winds are not going to be great here Monday morning thru midday so I'm expecting delays. Then here's the Jetstream forecast for Monday afternoon

Looks like a longer than normal flight to Atlanta so chances of a misconnect are relatively higher than usual. Would you stick with this flight, change to a 3pm through Minneapolis landing at 830pm, or a nonstop out of JFK at 4pm landing at 725pm? JFK would add an extra hour on the front end of travel but it's nonstop and lands an hr earlier. Trying to get back to Seattle on Monday given the snow forecasted this week.

Hope everyone had a great holiday

Psst...

Watching the 7th-11th range (timing hard) for an arctic outbreak across the Great Lakes and eventually into the NE.

I'll be long gone by then from this area . Ended up switching to the 3pm from Newark through Minneapolis, snow isn't supposed to hit Minnesota until Tuesday morning so I should be all set. My house in WA is Snow, Rain/Snow, Snow, Snow, Rain/Snow alllll week which is surprising given I'm at like 400' elevation

Give me this stuff all day long for skiing, pick up my skis on Wednesday from the shop after a fresh wax. I realized in the images below all we want is the blue to show on the map

Got a wax and a binding adjustment (new boots) yesterday. Like I said in the ski thread, love the look out here. My area's mnts probably in line for a foot or so over the next 10 days.

Also, mark your post NSFW.

But this polar blocking is going to loose some very cold air and snow toward the NE at some point.

Nice! New boots that are fitted are perfect. Hope you get some good days in soon, aiming for two weekends from now so the base gets larger.

Yeah I guess it's unfair to hog all the snow in the NW, we can spare some for the NE

Yes, I think Tierra del Fuego National Park is underrated. It's less dramatic than El Chalten or Torres del Paine, but very green and beautiful.

I definitely wish that I could've afforded to go to Antarctica, but you can still go to nearby Martillo Island and see three species of penguins.
