Zion and Bryce Canyon.
Where else should we stop? Trying to decide how many days out of ten should we spend traveling to Park City to go sking. We have a total of tens days to get everything in.
We want to make the most of this travel. I've never seen Southern Utah.

Could drop by Moab for a day. Would be pretty empty in winter.
Its less direct but going north from Green River is a really cool drive with the book cliffs to your right.

Kolob Canyon Visitor Center is about 30 min north of St. George. Go there and do the ~ 5 mile drive on Kolob Canyon Road. There are some hikes there too.
Virgin, UT is between St. G. & Springdale. Drive up Kolob Terrace Road from Virgin to the lake; takes about an hour. There is a hike to “The Subway” off that road but you have to have a permit to go there. The drive is great nonetheless.
Cedar Breaks National Monument is between Zion & Bryce. There are several ways to get there. No hikes that I know of; stop at the visitor center and then drive to the overlooks.
There is a state park near St. George where you can drive off road vehicles. A friend told me about it but I don’t know the name of it; she said they had a great time doing that.

Depending on when this trip is taking place you may need a snowmobile or snowshoes to make this happen. The roads up there are inaccessible in the winter months.

St George is at 2,700 ft., Bryce Cannon base elevation is almost 8,000 ft.

Definitely wouldn't recommend attempting this one then.
Just driving around that area is very cool though.

I just got back from a couple days in S Utah. Went to Zion, Bryce and mtn biked outside of Virgin on the Jem trail. Amazing couple days.
You could probably manage to hike down into Bryce for a bit with a 3 year old, depending on the weather. They may have snow when you're there, which might make that a little bit harder.
There are some shorter, pretty easy hikes at Zion too. The shuttle buses were great. One, if not two, buses came every 4-5 minutes. You can do the riverside walk that leads to the narrows, which is relatively flat and paved, so you can take a stroller if needed. LINK
We went up the west rim to Angels landing, which I would absolutely not recommend with a 3 year old. We saw two parents with very young kids in backpacks on top of Angels Landing. I was shocked. We went on up the west rim after that. You can get some great views from up there, but again, I would not take a 3 year old up there. There are some steep climbs and a few sections of sheer drop off the side of the cliff just to get up to where the Angels Landing trail starts, as well as to continue up the west rim.
If nothing else, the drive through Zion is just unbelievable. Coming from the east side through the tunnel into the canyon is absolutely breathtaking. Never seen anything like that before. You're surrounded by sheer cliffs on all sides that seem impossibly tall.
If you're coming up from St George, you may want to think about a day at the Grand Canyon. You can get to the North Rim in about 2.5 hours.

I just got back from a couple days in S Utah. Went to Zion, Bryce
When we were there in June it was about a 2 hour wait to get on the shuttle at the Visitor Center at 6:30 in the morning. We thought we were going to be the early birds but we were told they start getting in line at 4:00. The wait to get on shuttle to leave was not long though.

I thought there were a lot of people, but we waited maybe 10 minutes for a bus, so not nearly as crowded as when you were there.
We actually go there a little late too. I think we ended up parking at about 10:30, so maybe we missed the early crowds. We also were there on a Thurs. When we drove back through on Sat to get to Virgin for mtn biking, it seemed a lot more crowded though.
The weather was amazing too. I think the high was about 72 at Zion and 65 at Bryce. Clear skies for the most part. I'd definitely recommend a mid October visit if that's convenient. It was a guys trip, so we could pull the October timing off. I'm sure whenever I return with my wife and kids, it will have to be in summer or one of the school breaks.
