I’m sure this has been covered but I couldn’t find anything when I searched. Has anyone returned to the US from Mexico in the past month or so and what was required of you? TIA

Negative Covid test within 3 days of your flight back into the USA or proof of recovery from Covid within the last 90 days. Doesn't matter if you've had the vaccine or not, which I find ridiculous.

Our resort provided the tests but we had it within that window and didn’t want to risk a false positive so we did the proof of recovery. It was an easy process at the airport. They just check at the airline counters. Seemed like they were only checking to make sure the date was in the correct timeframe.

I'm curious when this will change as more countries are accepting visitors with vaccination. It will start to get weird that you can go to a lot of places but can't come home

That was my next question, how trustworthy and or available are the resort administered tests... I guess worst case scenario a false positive requires me to extend my stay haha

I think you can show a positive test result 3 months prior to the flight date and a letter from your healthcare provider stating you're cleared to travel.

I mentioned this in another thread. I’ve had two sets of friends that visited Tulum and Cabo over the last couple months. Both found a doctor to give them a negative test result. Paid the doc $50 per person. Didn’t even have to swab LOL.

Just offer them cash for a negative result and move on.

Planning an international trip? Get ready to show a negative coronavirus test to board your flight home

USA Today also had a recent article about the experiences of folks who went to Mexico and got stuck there a while because of a positive test,

Very easy. Just reached out to clinic that I got tested at when it was positive and asked for a copy of the positive test and a letter stating when I was cleared to travel/return to work on their letterhead.

The resort we stayed at scheduled you test for you upon arrival. They scheduled all of them two days before you leave so you’ve got time to get the results. My bet is they aren’t the most thorough on the swab because they don’t want anyone testing positive.

If you test positive, just do what this family did

quote:

Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky recounted the story of an unnamed constituent who went to Cabo San Lucas and tested positive. She was asymptomatic and took two more tests to be sure the initial result was correct. The family was told to stop testing and wait for 14 days, when they would be eligible to get a doctor's note to fly home if they had no COVID-19 symptoms.

"But they couldn't get a doctor in Mexico to sign off on that,'' Massie said.

The family ended up flying to Tijuana, Mexico, walking across the border to San Diego and flying back to Kentucky from there

To make it easy, you can print all the forms needed. It must be printed front and back. Used it multiple times with no issues. Here are the links to the forms.

Just flew back via American Airlines from Mexico. they were using the VeriFLY app. You upload your Covid test and answer the health questionnaire then just present the app at the airport.
Very easy and quick.

CDC is set to adopt guidance that vaccinated people can travel and do not have to quarantine after international travel (like anyone was).

It may not be long before testing on return is no longer required if they follow the logic.

Drove across border 9 days ago about 20 miles from Laredo. They didn’t ask any COVID questions at all. Not one. By air... probably a different story.
