Trying to find something for me and my wife to do without the kids. We normally do one of these a year since our kids have been born just tk get away. Looking for recs for either thursday thru sunday or sunday thru Tuesday. Weve done the typical stuff, DC, nashville, Pikes peak/colorado springs, orlando.... maybe even thinking of trying that packup and go

Charleston. Relaxing, beautiful, charming, good food, cool scenery, romantic, etc.

Yeah but it’s it just as hot in Charleston as it is here. Go up to someplace like Asheville there’s nice places to stay, it’s not quite as hot, and there’s plenty to do for a weekend

Wife and I are poor, we just go to Bay St Louis last couple years and have few drinks, listen to the bands, eat and people watch.

Chicago is a great long weekend trip. Check the weather, it could be hot as shite or really nice in the summer. I've frozen my arse off in mid May at a Cubs game and I've worn shorts at New Years.

But generally speaking if you are talking about August time frame, as said I'd go north to beat the heat personally. But that may or may not happen it maybe hot everywhere.

The Lakefront area is amazing with a world class museum, Navy Pier, and lots of park space. But it is absolutely not a cheap trip.

The Santa Fe/Taos areas and the Ruidoso area are very underrated destinations. Roswell is cool for a visit. I don't hate it but Albuquerque wasn't our best trip.

New Braunfels, TX

Was there a few weeks ago, and it was pretty much nothing but couples, lots of charming restaurants, bars, shopping

The nighttime bars all have live music, it’s an older professional crowd so you’re not gonna have all the immature college kids getting drunk and fighting.

Easily spend a full three days there and never get tired of anything.

McAdoo’s seafood restaurant was some of the best food I’ve had in a very long time, the owners are from Louisiana. It’s the original post office in downtown new Braunfels. They renovated it, but they’re pretty much kept all the original flooring, ceiling, bricks on the walls, etc.
