Trying it next week in Hawaii. Wanted a 4 wheel drive and the guy said we can take it to Mauna Kea’s summit. Has great reviews. Fingers crossed

Lost track of how many times we've used Turo, never had a bad experience, it takes a part of your trip that was always a crap shoot to being nothing to worry about. I never book with anyone that isn't 5 star rated, there are plenty choices to choose from in my experience. Renting a BMW convertible next month for a road trip to Key West from FLL.

We rented a blue Unlimited with the push button convertible top there back in November and everything went perfect, it's probably from the place you are using, they had about 75%+ of the available jeeps on the island. Good luck, that island is unreal.

Use it every year now when we go skiing. Get an AWD Subaru for the snow. Never had an issue and the cars have always been well maintained.

Started using them after a ski trip and the rental company sold out of 4X4 vehicles, even though I paid for one. Our house that year was on a hill, 2 wheel drive armada couldn’t make it up the hill when it snowed.

After reading this thread I looked into it for Denver. Wow. It really is cheaper. Even if i just wanted a basic car. But they have sports cars and fun rides. I'm pretty sure I would rent either a jeep or a new corvette for the winding roads.
Prices are amazing in Denver

I fly to Midland TX several times per year. It’s the only thing I use now because I know I’ll have a car every time. And always a good experience.

Been using it since 2018 and given the efficiency and cost advantage for much better cars, I’m frankly surprised it hasn’t disrupted traditional rental car businesses more.

Does anyone’s auto insurance cover them for turo, or does everyone just buy the extra insurance? Alfa told me I am not covered renting through turo so I always purchase the extra insurance.

I spoke with my agent (Progressive) about this and they said all coverages transfer to a Turo rental just like you're driving your own car. Exceptions were moving trucks, exotic cars, and using it for ridesharing services (like Uber, UberEATS, Lyft, etc).

Used last summer and was great. Plan on using again this summer.

Rates much better than agencies and you can pick your exact car.

I just made sure to rent from a guy with high reviews.

Re: Insurance - Just read a customer advocate column about an issue with Turo. Customer had bought the lower coverage with a 3K deductible. Car owner turned in a claim for questionable interior damage. Turo billed customer for 3K with no repair invoices. When advocate inquired, Turo agreed that damage photos were inconclusive and closed the claim. Good outcome but a hassle.

Advice was to use the Turo app to take pictures, inside and out, when picking up and dropping off car. The app photo service time and geo stamps pics.

I always do this, and a video walk around/interior.

I do this with any rental car. I video the entire thing and focus on any blemish.
I got screwed by Alamo one time by not doing a good walk through.

it's legit.

although recently i have been using regular rentals due to prices. turo seems to have caught up to the regulars for decent vehicles.

if you don't mind driving junk, then turo is great way to save a few bucks.

Went on a bachelor trip to Arizona last weekend and we used Turo for the weekend. Very smooth experience. Cheaper than renting a car. We got off the flight, found the van in the designated parking lot/spot, unlocked it and was ready to go. We returned it back to the same lot when it was time to return. Highly recommend.

Used it this weekend in Pensacola Florida. My plane arrived after Hertz and they used to close so I booked with Turo. CARR was waiting for me in the parking lot. Much easier than getting a car from a rental company. Easy drop off definitely going to do it again.

I have been using for 3 years now. Seems like local municipalities are catching on and the prices are not as good as they used to be due to increases in taxes and fees. But better than POS rental cars.

I user to just hire a driver to take me to my hiking spots if I don't have family available. I've had the same guy bring me to death valley and all the way to Hurricane
