One day in Seattle

We are getting off a cruise ship in Seattle on a Friday morning and leaving the next day. Looking for ideas and thoughts. We are staying downtown.
We like to tour breweries so Pike Brewing is likely on the list.
I am thinking of walking to the ferry dock and taking a ride across to Bremerton or Bainbridge. Is one preferred/better?
TIA.

I've done that trip twice(although it was a private boat). It's a beautiful little island with some cool shops and such in the town area.
I would recommend taking the city tour. I did that on my first trip to Seattle and they take you around to five or six of the great neighborhoods and to the Ballard locks among other things. Really informative and it gives you a good layout of the land as well as the history, etc.

Downtown you have Pikes fish market and tons of shops and also the space needle.

Is the restaurant at the Needle worth it for brunch?

Shameless one last bump. Leaving tomorrow.

It really depends on what you want to experience. With only 1 day I'd be more into seeing Seattle itself rather than taking a ferry, but if you go that route definitely do Bainbridge. There's nothing touristy to do or see in Bremerton.
With 1 day I'd probably just walk around the market and downtown area, check out Pike Brewing (it's underneath the market, don't eat there though. their food sucks). Maybe take the monorail from Westlake Center downtown to the Space Needle and then walk around the Seattle Center and/or the EMP.

I hear you. We just love being on the water

The Bainbridge Ferry is cool. Great views of Seattle and surroundings.
The beer at Pike is pretty meh. If you want really good beer, go to Chuck's Hop Shop. You should hit up at least one good PNW taproom...

Noted!
Do you know the Harbor Public House on Bainbridge?
Menu and beer offerings look great.

That looks okay. I like the Johnny Utah Pale Ale. I haven't had all of them, but it looks like they are mainly year-round offerings, which is fine because you don't have access to that stuff year 'round, anyway.
FYI - some of the breweries to watch out for are Bale Breaker, Barley Browns, and Boneyard. I love Fremont's BA stouts, but haven't been impressed with their hippy stuff (admittedly, I haven't tried all of it). You may run into a lot of small breweries while walking/driving around. Some of those brewpubs are a lot of fun...

I appreciate all the insights. We like breweries and brewpubs. Going to hit up Alaskan Brewing and Skagway Brewing Company.

My favorite breweries in Alaska are Anchorage Brewing and Midnight Sun Brewery - both in Anchorage.

Flying back from Seattle today from a 3 day work trip. I stayed at the Mayflower Park Hotel on Olive and it was an easy walk down to the market/waterfront area. Ate at a great French restaurant on Monday right near the main entrance to the market and went to the original Starbucks across the street.
Last night I hopped the monorail from Westlake down to the Seattle Center/Space Needle. The city itself isn't that spread out and you could get a lot of tourist-y stuff done in a day.
Cool town and easy to navigate. You'll have time to get more done than you think.

I loved Seattle but i absolutely hated pike's market. It was smelly and grimy. I really loved alki beach but that's probably not what you want to do with only one day to visit the city.

I've got a day and a half there in a few days. Planning to do a Mariners game (have to check it off the stadium list), Pike's, and then a grunge tour with Stalking Seattle. Anyone ever done this tour?
