Anyone ever been? I did a search and didn’t find much..
Wife and I are going early March for two weeks. So far we plan to go to Marrakech, Fes with a road trip to the Sahara in between. Then possibly a coastal town or Chefchaouen.
Done a lot of research online but curious if anyone here has any experience.

Yeah it’s a pretty great place.
I’d hire a Berber local to guide you into andout of the Sahara
Learn your basic Arabic words for no, yes, please, thank you, and bless you.
Lots and lots of beggars/hawkers, be firm but not rude. They all speak 5-7 languages it seems.

I think it would be fascinating to visit the leather tanneries and markets in Marrakech. I know someone got killed in Morocco recently, but people get killed in Louisiana every day. No advice to give, but enjoy yourself!

Never been, but I know people that went on a whim while vacationing in Spain. They said Fez and Chefchaouen were two of the coolest places they've ever been. However, they aren't too high maintenance and are easy going.
What about Casablanca?
What about Casablanca?

Casablanca is the blandest of the cities there.

Make out a will before leaving.

I always wanted to go to Morocco but would never want to take my wife along to any predominantly Muslim country where women are the equivalent of dirt.

Just spent 3 nights in Marrakech and 1 night glamping an hour outside of the city.
Stayed in a Riad in the Medina (old city). Markets are cool and never ending. Everyone is trying to make a buck off you so be prepared to say no firmly, especially when people offer directions and "show you the way". The majority of the people we encountered spoke french and English.
They also have a casino there in a part of town that caters to the international crowd.

Essaouira is pretty bad arse and really cheap. Enjoyed it very much.

Go to youtube and look up Flying the Nest, they just finished about a 2 weeks stay in Morocco.
Very good channel and they were over there when the 2 women were killed.
They visited Marrakech, Essaouira, Casablanca & Rabat, Chefchaouen & Fes Medina and then camped in the Sahara Desert at a spot called Merzouga.

Why are all these people camping? Honestly no idea? Just seems like lodging would be cheap?

Sitting in the ATL airport right now to head to spain & Morocco. 7 days in Spain and 6 in Morocco. Marrakech, Fess, and the Blue City. Pumped for the trip. Had a friend live over there for a year and said we are hitting up the best cities. I’ll try to remember to post my review.

I think they take your passport when you enter and you get it back when leave.

I went about 4 years ago with a few friends and had a great time. Very friendly locals and delicious food. We did an itinerary very similar to below. This guide was great because it really highlighted a few cities and let you know what cities to skip/spend short time at, like Casablanca as others have mentioned. Chefchaouen was a beautiful hidden gem.
Travel Guide Itinerary
Like NOFOX mentioned, I would add Essaouira while in Marrakech as well.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
I am looking at getting Chef and Essoauira on the itinerary.
Two questions for those who have been :
1. We are currently planning three nights each in Fes and Marrakech. Is this too many or a good amount? We typically are pretty high energy when we travel but also enjoy staying in places long enough to really soak it up.
2. How is the Essoauira to Marrakech trip? I understand it is by bus a few hours and am trying to fly in there to avoid a round trip bus ride but maybe it’s not so bad

(1) I think 3 nights in Marrakech is fine. If you needed to cut a night, you could get by with 2. We did 3 nights, eating at the booths in Jemaa el-Fnaa for 2 which was fun and then had a private chef cook a multi course meal that we ate on the roof patio of our riad on the last night.
(2). The bus ride isn’t bad. It’s pretty short, but you can hire a taxi to take you to Essaiouria for pretty cheap and will be quicker and more comfortable.
Bargain for the Riad in Essaouira. We stayed at one of the nicest ones with a great view of the water and great breakfast served on the rooftop for ~50€ a night when they advertised 200€ a night.

I’m leaving for Morocco on Friday, does anyone know if their currency can be bought anywhere in the US? Bank of America doesn’t offer to exchange dollars to Moroccan currency.
Or is currency exchange something you only do upon arrival in Morocco?
Thanks.

My son went last year...with a platoon of Marines loaded with M4's and plenty of explosives...only way I'd go.
And that city was a bucket list item, but not now. I'm not ready to kick the bucket.
