Delicate Arch --> A bit of a hike, but well worth it. Get there for sunset.

Don't forget a headlamp.

It will be busy but it's worth it imo.

Rent a RZR four seater and pay for a guided tour.

Seriously.

If you aren't familiar, you can get yourself into some areas that you don't have the skill for.

But it is beyond worth it.

Hell if you have a semi capable SUV, do a few mild trails. It's very fun.

DO NOT DO AIRPORT HILL EVEN THOUGH IT'S RATED FAIRLY EASY.

You can't crest the two ledges at the top and it's a death trap

Just checked, and Arches has closed the gates at 7:30am for the last two days - that is pretty early to fill up, combination of general park demand and extreme heat.

We got to Arches around 7:30 without an issues. We did the delicate arch around noon, and crowds were minimal at that time (but was very crowded at 7:30. We packed a picnic lunch and ate while in the park. We left in late afternoon.

Would highly recommend doing a sunset jeep tour on Hell’s revenge trail. They usually run from about 5:30 to 8:30. We had a great time - you could also drive yourself and follow a guide - follow the leader type setup. Must be a dozen tour companies - but they do book up.

Canyonlands is also great to visit but arrive early. They are even less equipped for crowds than Arches, and two hour wait is possible for those getting there later. Dead horse is nearby and a good place to visit. Star gazing is also fun in the area - just outside of Moab is best for the dark skies.

We hit up a number of good places to eat - basic pub food, but it was all good and they have plenty of good beers to have. Drink plenty of water while there. We had days around 100 degrees, but in the shade with a breeze it didn’t feel bad. Evenings were comfortable.

We stayed at the Springhill Marriot which is outside of the town (8 min drive) but it is great as it’s across from Arches and has an awesome pool for kids.

We loved Moab Springs Ranch(big, clean bungalows with designated parking). Close to town and the parks. Just about perfect for Moab.

We stayed in aarchway inn. Clean, cheap, large rooms, breakfast included. I’m not fussy on rooms though as I’m up and gone shortly after daylight and come back around or after dark.

We just drove in to Colorado hauling the side by side and quad. I just kind if found out what the heck we are doing. Palisades, Bryce Canyon, Moab and Zion.

We are staying in cabins at the KOA in Moab, a hotel in Zion and a VRBO the other places.

Rmax right?

Bring 1 gallon of water per person on the trails.

You do NOT want to get caught out there on foot with no water.

Yeah. We are heading to the Palisades tomorrow. But the vacation has started right...the wife won 15k at a casino in Black Hawk, CO yesterday.

thank you for this post, this has been great advice

it is hotter than you can imagine in Moab right now so you have to do a little planning and make an effort to avoid midday exertion and the crowds though I will say you will not see the hordes of fat America that you see in other parks

get up early, hit the hikes you want and get out by noon. Re group and start again at 6ish till well after dark to see the stars.

the hells revenge jeep tour through outlaw is a must do. It’s part adventure tour, part geology lesson and part comedy show. Just fantastic

Moab Brewery is great
