How do you travel? Check bag, roller bag, backpack, ruck sack? Multiple bags or single item?

I use a 21” basic hard case carry-on. Looking to upgrade my backpack. Need something I can fit under an airplane seat. Any suggestions?

I always find it crazy at some airports when some family has two full carts with 8 or 9 large bags on it. What do you need all that stuff for?

Most my trips are 10 days to 14 days.
I use a 25" checked roller from Swiss Gear and a
21" TravelPro for carry-on (both used for 2 trips now with no issues. I have a backpack/gym bag I like for personal item because its light and easy to deal with vs full backpack.

I use an Osprey suitcase the wife got me. It’s small and easy to drag around. I’ve got several backpacks I use mostly for camera stuff. Check out the Peak Design backpack

I travel a lot, but usually for work and no more than 2 days at a time so I use this or this depending on if it is a one or two night stay.

Longer trips are a standard 21" hardcase carry on and a backpack.

If baby is coming, we need the biggest suitcase we own

My trips are mostly day trips, so I just use a Saddleback flight bag. If it’s overnight for 1-2 nights I carry a Filson 48-hr bag

I use the a 4 wheel roller as my carry on and a Nomatic expandable backpack as my personal item.

I have the Nomatic Travel Pack and it is great. Water resistant, expandable, protected pocket for passport, hidden pocket, laptop pocket, removable waist straps and the most important thing to me is a luggage trolley. I throw it on my roller when I get out of the car and it stays there until I board the plane. Backpack straps also tuck in so they become hidden and are out of the way. You can carry it as a briefcase as well.

Good article

Currently, I'll take my Ebag Motherlode Rolling Backpack. Check it in. Put a Tile inside. Really not into carry on hassle so far, but that may change one day. Never lost luggage knock on wood.

Take onboard the Osprey 26 +6 Expandable. Osprey has good rolling backpacks as well. Friend works for them and loves them.

Back when we were traveling internationally a good bit I had a couple of different setups. Wife and I would both carry rolling carry ons and check a medium sized check bag. We like Briggs for carry on but our checked bag back then was Eagle Creek (now we use Thule).

It became an issue trying to roll two bags at the same time (train travel, cobblestones, etc.) so I eventually got to where I was carrying a Tom Bihn Aeronaut 45 as my carry on, which you can carry in duffle or backpack style. That presented the issue of having two backpack style bags plus the checked roller, so I would use a briefcase style bag w/ a luggage sleeve as a personal item. It was pretty tough to find a good quality backpack w/ a luggage sleeve, so I had to sacrifice some space in that setup.

Ultimately I graduated to the Tom Bihn Synik 30 (backpack) as a personal item, which is a big backpack that doesn't look/feel too big. I could put the Aeronaut on my back and use the luggage sleeve on the Synik to roll one bag. That was my best setup before we had kids and just started checking everything and hoping for the best

Osprey and Osprey. I use their transporter for luggage and atmos for backpacking (I think I have 5 Osprey backpacks actually). They have lifetime warranties on their products too.

My main bag is a 21" hardside roller which I usually check. I was shopping for TUMI or similar backpack to replace a ripped 12 year-old pack, but went to Tuesday Morning and found a suitable pack for $25.

I've started taking a large backpack as my carry-on but putting it overhead. I have a smaller bag I keep inside the backpack and usually have my tablet, MP3 player, a book etc. It easily fits under the seat and it's easy to put in and take out of my backpack.

For more than a weekend....Soft side carry-on roller packed to the gills with the heavy stuff (shoes, sweatshirts, coats, bathroom stuff, etc) and then a checked bag with the rest of my clothes

I'll also usually carry a very small lightweight, collapsable backpack (for hiking) that is use to carry my passport, macbook, book, glasses, sunglases, phone charger, etc. and if I need a backpack where I am going, this is the one I use.

I don't do much travel for less than 5 days but when I do, it's a simple rolling carry-on (side depends on weather where I am going and how much I need) and backpack.

I try to not overthink it and definitely don't use my luggage as a fashion statement but do like to make sure what I pack leaves enough room to come home with extra stuff if I want(local beers, gifts, etc)...sometimes that means packing an extra duffle in the checked bag.

Travelpro Maxlite 21" rollerboard and a Stuart and Lau Carry briefcase for work trips. I swap the briefcase for a North Face Big Shot backpack for personal trips.

I use an Away "The Bigger Carryon", I can pack a week's worth of clothing in there.

I'm also in the market for a new backpack for my personal item, not sure what I'm going to get.
