I'm flying AA from Nola to Miami Friday morning at 8am. Flight # is 444. I'm hoping everything will be okay then, but how can I tell if the plane is coming from somewhere before Nola or not?

Technically I think the flight has to cancel to get a refund, however your MSY to HOU flight may already be cancelled so the refund should be okay. I don't think the HOU airport is supposed to open until Thursday morning at the earliest anyway. I would call southwest now and see what they say. They may have you wait until tomorrow or Wednesday to cancel
"Additionally, Customers holding reservations for a flight that is cancelled may request a refund for an unused ticket/travel itinerary."

Flightaware is the best site to use. Your plane will come from Dallas, Miami or Charlotte the night before so hopefully it makes it in.

You the man, Cuse. Thanks so much for the help.

So they were very helpful in switching our flight so that we can just take the second leg from DFW to Reno after we drive from Lake Charles to DFW.
Does anyone know the conditions for driving up to Dallas? We plan on going up to Shreveport then west on 20 as we are trying to avoid the road closures and rescue efforts.

Flying to IAH then to Belize Saturday. Would you just wait and see or should I be calling United now?

American not letting me change my destination city is annoying. I'm essentially getting upcharged $600 to change from DAL - HOU to DAL - NO.

Where are you flying from? You will probably have better luck getting on a united partner from another airport/airline to get to bze.
EWR-SAL-BZE but it departs at 715am

Bad agent. What you should do is if you see things arent going your way, politely thank them, tell them you need some time to think about it, then hang up and call again.

It's their policy written in black & white. Doubt I find anyone nice enough to work around it.

Get a refund for the flights you booked to houston and rebook dfw to msy instead?

I can reroute through ATL or MIA but I'm meeting up with someone coming from LFT. My gut says IAH will be up and running by Saturday, just not sure if I should wait and see or what. Currently waiting 40 minutes to talk to someone from United.

Driving Tuesday Evening and flying out Wednesday AM...

Looked into both that and just adding a HOU-NO flight; they were obscenely pricey. I'll just watch the game on the tube.

Cuse, forgive me if this is a dumb question, but my return flight on Friday just had a waiver issued for it.
A waiver just allows me to change or cancel my trip at no cost right? I'm assuming since I'm returning home its nothing I should worry about?
Add to the OP that Delta has issued waivers for the following cities through September 7
Alexandria, LA (AEX)
Austin, TX (AUS)
Baton Rouge, LA (BTR)
Houston, TX – Hobby (HOU)
Houston, TX – Intercontinental (IAH)
Lafayette, LA (LFT)
New Orleans, LA (MSY)
San Antonio, TX (SAT)
Shreveport, LA (SHV)

From what I just read on flyertalk, United is planning on operating hub to hub flights starting Thursday evening and most of Friday. By saturday they may be at close to normal but I would still try and avoid if at all possible

Figured Delta would finally update their waivers, they've been very far behind on this one but to their defense, they have been operating all their flights in and out of LFT/BTR/MSY/LCH over the past several days.

If your flight cancels, you can get a refund. Otherwise you can change it for free. So if you book a 6am ATL-BTR flight and really don't feel like getting up at 4am, this is the perfect chance for you to switch to that 2pm flight free of charge. What time are you looking to head back? I can take a look at inventory

I'm heading back in the afternoon after I finish work stuff. I just took a quick look and there aren't any better itineraries for me. Just wanted to make sure.
I guess I just got a bit freaked out when I got that email but I'm assuming this is just because everything is going to be backed up between Texas and Louisiana for a while. I can't imagine BR will still be in trouble by Friday.
Thanks for the help Cuse

We should be good on Friday. There's a 3:13pm, 4:29pm, 7:04pm, 9:14pm, and a 10:33pm. The 3:13 and 4:29 are almost full already and they're on a terrible plane (CRJ 200) with horrible legroom and no wifi. The 7 and 9pm flights are on a CRJ900 (much better plane with wifi) but are only selling 1 and 4 seats respectively.
