Holly Beach is usually great that time of the year.

What do you like to do when you travel?

I’m thinking the beaches are out since that would be our main attraction and weather maybe too cold. But to answer your question I like to get out and see the area. Hiking would be nice.

Maybe somewhere in the PNW? I’d recommend Vermont but I think it’ll be too cold at that time.

Asheville would be a great option as well. Tons of hiking, great food and breweries, etc.

When you say US are you just talking about the lower 48? If the two of you like beaches and are concerned about it being too cold, I would suggest looking into St. John in the USVI. If I had it to do all over again, that would be where I would go. October is winding down hurricane season so it may be a good time to go.

For hiking, I think Big Bend and northern Arizona would be awesome that time of year. Maybe New England, Boston Vermont and Maine would be awesome too. Might be a little chilly up there then. Santa Fe would also be nice!

Denver would be a good option. Depending on the weather, it could be 60-70 in Denver and then you could head to the mountains and it'd be 40-50, perfect for hiking.

Yeah, that time is typically great for the leaves too.

Beautiful hikes with all the fall foliage.

Getting married October 22nd of this year.

We got married in October and went to Aspen for our honeymoon.

It's the off season during that time, so some things will be closed, but the aspens are in full color mode at that time, the town and trails will not be crowded, and the rentals will be much cheaper.

The place we stayed was $900/night during the summer/winter season, and only $300/night during the off season.

October is also the "mud" season, so expect for rain and some snow flurries in higher elevations.

Went to Montana (Missoula and Georgetown Lake) the second week of October last year. It was cold, but not "too" cold. Trees were still turning, scenery was beautiful, hikes were still enjoyable because it wasn't too cold.
