Long story short, my sister and mom are taking my nephew to Disney World and asked if I wanted to go. Since I have never been I said why the hell not plus I want to check out Galaxy's Edge. Any advice you'd give a first timer also isn't true they sell beer inside because I'll probably need it

Set expectations low (long lines, expensive prices for food and drink, tons of people everywhere) and you'll have a good time. I went to new years at epcot a few years ago and had a great time by expecting the above and being able to do more than I thought I would.

I know my problem with disney is I would like the parks to be empty with limited to no waits for rides, it to be reasonably priced, and have sunny and 75* days but those days are hard to come by. Expect the worst, but plan for the best. Try drinking in every city in epcot (beers around the world)

When are you going?

Where are you staying?

Which parks are you going to?

Probably sometime in the summer and not sure yet where were staying or what parks we'll be hitting up. The only I know for sure I want to check out is Galaxy's Edge

Kinda hard to offer advice with no context. Check out FrogTours crowd calendars and other Disney threads here I guess. Definitely be awake early and logged into MyDisneyExperience to make FastPass selections the morning you gain access to do so. You’ll be waiting in line the majority of your day during the summer so you may want to have a plan for must-rides and skip the rest.

If I can make a suggestion, Port Orleans Riverside is excellently located in relation to parks as a collective - last thing you want to do after being on your feet all day is stand for a 45 minute bus ride. It’s one of the mid-tier priced resorts and is all the nice you need in my opinion.

Hoop Dee Doo Revue was a legit first dinner. Bottomless beer, fried chicken, and ribs hit the spot after a travel day. Outside of that, recommendations for rides and grub depend on your park schedule.

On the bright side, there will be countless tour groups of Brazilian girls in tiny shorts and no bras during the summer. Mirrored lenses my friend.

Some suggestions.

Stay on site, the transportation system at Disney is very good.

If you stay on site, set fast pass 60 days out. I would suggest hitting up Animal Kingdom as day 1. At 12:01am 60 days prior get up and set a fast pass for your group for Flight of passage. It’s really the only ride there that is hard to book fast pass for. It’s also the best ride in any park, you don’t want to miss it.

Don’t try and park hop. It’s a lot easier on you if you spend a day at a park than jump around.

Don’t try and do Disney and Universal the same trip unless you’re staying over 6-7 days.

Set dining reservations as far out as you can. Suggestions

Sci-fi at Hollywood Studios
Le Cellier at Epcot
The Edison at Disney Springs

Don’t try and do everything. You’ll make yourself miserable. I’m a Disney pro and I learned that a long time ago.

Dude, you gonna have a blast. You not bringing your kids. You won’t have to pay for shite, but still experience the joy of your nephew.

Most people who shite on Disney do so bc they have to pay for themselves, wife and kid(s). They blow the cost of a Caribbean Beach cabana without getting laid. You will have no responsibilities and can be the fun uncle. Just ride the rides and get drunk. It’s glorious.

we were just there. Had a great time.

Flight of Passage was everyone's favorite of all the Disney parks. There's a bar right by it too.

Galaxy's Edge is awesome. The Millennium Falcon ride was great.

I have a friend that helps people with their Disney trips for free. She can be contacted on FB @ Kim Jenkins Key to the World Travel. If you have never been to Disney I would suggest professional assistance or you could be overwhelmed.

The FastPass window doesn’t open until 60 days out at 7am EST. It is for length of stay so your best bet is to book Flight of Passage for your last day (or at least towards the end of your trip) it is very hard to get at exactly 60 days because people that are staying for a week have been able to book that day for 7 full days. 7 Dwarfs Mine Train and Slinky Dog are also hard to get fast passes. Right now there are no fast passes for either ride in Galaxy’s Edge. The rumor is that eventually there will be so that is something you will need to keep an eye on.

Check out the Disney at Christmas thread maybe a page over. You'll get some very recent info concerning Galaxy's Edge and how I handled it. I honestly do not want to retype it
