Similar experience leaving France. Forged at home test to get back and breezed through.

I’m just surprised you didn’t have to upload a negative test or vaccination card prior to leaving for France.

We had to do so a few weeks earlier. Was curious if it changed. And that is what OP was asking. If a negative test or vax card is needed to travel international

I was surprised as well. I did go back and look at everything I submitted prior and could not find anything showing the proof of vaccination. I did attest to being vaccinated but that was never verified throughout the trip.

Had a great time all together though. Used a lot of the recommendations found on the TB and wife was very impressed. Thought I "researched" well.

Spain

Their COVID verification portal was really easy to use. I finished it today and received my QR code for entry into Spain.

What exactly does this mean?

I am flying to Ireland later this month with my family and the only hangup is we have to test before coming back to the US. The Dublin airport has an on site 1 hour testing center, but if there is something I can do on my own to bypass this I am willing to do it. I'm not even sure how strict they are about checking for a negative result before heading home.

Filled out a dummy form on it today. Very easy and doesn’t require submitting any proof of vaccination into the portal (however will need to show vax card at destination airport). Just had to give dates of last dose into the system.

Would love to hear the level of rigor in checking QR code and the vax card. Also see it’s been extended only to May 15th of course can be extended further

Question for you, my wife and I will be traveling to Spain and France in early June....unfortunate part is neither of us have taken the booster nor planned too, but both require you too if your last dose was more than 270 days/9months ago. How strict is Spain on this right now to get into the country? I really dont want to have to get the booster but if it is the only way we get in then I guess we will cave..

Painting with a broad brush here, but…

The EU nations are relying on your word. We don’t have the digital Covid certificate like they do. Let’s say you filled in your cdc card with booster information to reflect a Pfiderna booster at some point in last 6 months. Now let’s further say that you are heading to Spain first. Spain is going to make you fill out an online form to give you a QR code. That code will be generated based on the information you provided and nothing else. When you land the QR code will be looked at I’m sure and you will flash your vax card at some customs or other official who is probably just as over all this stupidity as you are.

You can pretty much always count on incompetence or impossibility with enforcement of most regulations.

When you go to the portal it has protocols for vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers. I'd be getting ahead of it now so you can meet your specific requirements.

NOTE: I did not read the unvaccinated travelers portion but it was there.

Just returned from Panama - they either required proof of vaccine or proof of negative test not greater than 72 hours (I think) before flying. Had to complete an online from similar stating length of stay, location staying, airline etc. then provide QR code to Panamian govt once landing.
They also required masks on airplane boarding for Panama - regardless what TSA was stating.
It was a pain, but that’s what they wanted.
On the return flight the day before we had to get tested at resort and provide that to authorities at airport.
Don’t even ask if a person tests positive

Heading to USVI and on to BVI this weekend.

- USVI has a portal wanting traveller info along with uploading a copy of vax card. No test needed if you're vax'd.

- BVI wants a negative test 48 hrs or less before arrival.

- Return to US is a negative test 24 hrs or less before travel.

Pretty sure US wants neg test dated day before return travel. Not necessarily less than 24 hrs. Small difference but significant if timing is close.

Just entered Norway. Nothing. Just presented the passport and said where I was going and that took two minutes.

Now..upon boarding the ship we have to wear masks until our saliva test comes back negative, then you don’t. Temperature check and provide proof of a negative test prior to boarding. That’s a Viking requirement though.

I am hoping they cease all of this soon. Exuma trip
Coming up 6 days after a large family wedding in Austin. One of our 8 has covid now and didn’t realize until day 6. I don’t want some bullshite cold to ruin an entire trip for everyone.

Just spent about a week in Italy. On May 1st they dropped all those requirements; think they were the last EU nation to hold out. Only time you need a mask is on public transit, they are pretty stringent on FFP2+ quality though. Only place I showed my vaccine card was (1) in US before I boarded and (2) before a pasta-making class; they even noted that after 5/1 it wouldn’t be required.

Also…I’m in London and was able to secure a Fit2Fly rapid test for £40 through this site: Coronatestcentre. In and out in 5 minutes, received my results within an hour.

Damn son. we did the middle 3 spots. I think at every place you go id highly recommend a historical tour- the guides are all very insightful and just provide so much depth vs you walking around aimlessly (GetYourGuide & Airbnb experiences very good options).

Another rec is downloading RailEurope app. Very easy to purchase tickets between major cities, as well as to smaller towns.

Cinque Terre is beautiful, getting very crowded. We just did a day trip. Are you staying in La Spezia (port town) or one of the terres? Monterrosso was the coolest as it had more beachfront.

Florence might be my favorite city I’ve ever visited. Very tight knit and everything within the historical town feels walkable. Go to a leather market (San Lorenzo), get bistecca alla fiorentina, gelato til your brain freezes, etc. a lot of great restaurants as well as quick bites. Go south of the Arno river for a more “locals” experience. Day trips to Tuscany for winery tours would be possible. Uffizi is primo, as well as the Galileo museum

Venice is very eclectic. We didn’t stay in the old town although I wish we had. You are near the Prosecco hills so a trip there may be worthy. Seafood is great. Gondolas are highly regulated and very expensive, don’t go for more than 80 euro per half hour…we just decided to walk around.

It’s all incredible. I downloaded like four books before my flight back to US so I could learn more about Venetian history and the Medici dynasty (in Florence)

With all that said, I would say don’t try to do too much in a day. These cities are so chock full of history and beauty, sometimes it’s nice to just sip a €3 glass of wine on a terrace and appreciate it all
