So I plan on gifting my sister and her family with a Disneyworld trip. 3 little girls under 5 and 2 adults. Where do I find the deals? What should I not over look? Etc etc.

Aiming for the Summertime.

Check magicalvacationstravel.com They have agency exclusives. I’ve used them two out of six trips, the two times I used them it was $2-3k cheaper than through Disney. I use Angela. They have several agents.

Unless someone in the group is on the military, there really aren't any deals.

Considering the 3 kids aren’t in regular school yet if they’re all under 5, maybe book a trip during non-peak season when most kids are in school and the Disney parks won’t be as crowded. Standing in hour long lines in the middle of summer with 3 kids that young won’t be fun. October or early November will be a lot more comfortable and lines will be short for most rides

On site reservations. There are a number of the resorts which have some extra sleeping options, I'd suggest Art of Animation to look at first.

After June 30th, as Toy Story Land will be open and good for kids.

Disney will offer discounts on some resorts and/or rooms, just call 407WDISNEY. Their support is excellent. And they can help guide you.

The one thing you shouldn't overlook. Go with them, Disney vacations are best with the whole family

Not totally true. Best advice is to contact one of the Disney vacation specialist like smallworldvacations. These people often get rooms at conference rates so you could maybe swing a room at the Polynesian for what you would pay for a moderate. It’s worth a phone call.

Oh the rooms. Yeah there are discounted rooms. I meant tickets.
Your want to stay cheap you can get two bedroom suites off property but close enough to see the fireworks for $100.
I stayed in $425/ two bed room that was farther away, but on property last trip.
Staying on property is overrated.

Certainly not for a family with kids under 5. The ease of and convenience of regular bus transport to resorts can't be beat.

I would agree the buses are overrated, especially at summer time prices for hotels. I just got back after staying on property with 2 kids under 5. Sure they are good, but by no means great. It's great if you are on the monorail or one of the Epcot resorts and going to those parks. But as far as saving time and convenience, it's not hard nor saves a lot of time to park at any of the parks but Magic Kingdom. What you save in room cost staying off resort you could just Lyft to and from the park from International Drive and still be way ahead.

OP, as said how many people total? Is it just their family of 5 or more family too? There's plenty of hotel rooms that sleep 5, but if you have more you can find a suite.

Coming from a very experienced Disney visitor with lots of trips when my three kids were those ages and even younger:

(1) stay on property because it is magical, but drive to all parks except MK [and Epcot if you are drinking] Parking will be free as a resort guest and you control your times. If you fly, you are stuck with bus which is fine.
(2) if you aren’t going they just need a 5 person room. Port Orleans/Riverside is really nice. Art of Animation and Pop Music have family suites that sleep 6. If you can afford it, Beach Club sleeps 5 and has the best pool area for kids.
(3) Meal plan or not? At that age, may not be worth the cost for the kids as they don’t eat that much. Benefit of it is that everything paid for in advance so you don’t feel like you are forced to pick the cheapest thing at every meal.
(4) another reason to stay on site is that you can make FastPass ressie 60 days in advance vs 30 in advance if you are off property. Makes a difference in what they will be able to do.
(5) absolutely, with kids that young, go in an off-peak time when the rest of the country is in school and not on any vacation or holiday. The first two weeks of December are the best and you get Christmas decorations. October is nice [avoid epcot on Friday-sunday because of Food and Wine fest]. First two weeks of May good. Spring is hit or miss because of Presidents’ Day, spring breaks for various schools, easter etc...
(6) I highly recommend magical vacations travel. We also ALWAYS had Garden Grocer deliver groceries to our room ... water bottles, soda 12 packs, snacks for backpacks like granola bars, etc...
(7) the way they do fast passes now, you really need two days in epcot and magic kingdom each to be able to do everything. You can still fit animal kingdom in one day. Hollywood Studios can be done in one day because so much of it is closed during construction of toy story land and Star Wars land.
