Founding Farmers and/or Farmers & Distillers - both have the same owner.

I'll be there in a couple weeks myself. Staying in the Bethesda/Chevy Chase area. Any food rec in those areas? Specifically, I would like to try Ethiopian food for the first time, if anyone has recs for that.

Very wide variety in DC. What kind of budget? Looking for more casual or fine dining?

Old Ebbitt Grill is good.

My suggestions that you might not see on typical lists:

Compass Rose - (Khacapuri is excellent...thing a cheesy bread from Georgia and all of their mains are great...even ones like the spice bag an homage to Ireland)

Maydan - lamb shoulder is expensive...but so damn worth it...open kitchen with them using a fire pit right in front of you...not sure if the smells impacts my feelings about the place, but great drinks also

Dukem - I know the reviews compared to some of the other Ethiopian places in DC, but there is a reason it has been around a long time...

Sushi Keiko - simple Japanese restaurant...but great consistent food and always fresh sushi

Old Ebbitt Grill is a an old historic place with goon food and a fun bar.

Rasika for Indian food.

Zaytanya for Mediterranean food.

Tosca for Italian.

Blue Duck Tavern is very good.

All of these places with the exception of Blue Duck are within easy walking distance of the White House. (We stay at the Willard a half block awy).

If you're into whiskey, Jack Rose is a must.

For food, Zaytinya, Officina in the Wharf, Le Diplomate, and Blue Duck Tavern are all good.
