I’m pissed off you started this thread. Now all I can think about is getting back to Vermont.

I've been to every state but Hawaii, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine so I figured it was time to knock most of those out on one trip.

I'm going back that way next month. 2 days in Burlington and 5 days in northern NH. Can't wait, even with family obligations.

Mabel’s Lobster Claw for lunch and grab ice cream at Rococco.

Pier 77 is also a nice spot

Great call. You’re going to love it. Highly recommend grabbing coffee at Vermont Artisan Coffee and Tea Co. which is between Waterbury and Stowe.

Montpelier is a pretty cool town/city.
My son attended law school in south Royalton Vt about 40 minutes away

Agreed on this recommendation—and make sure whatever you order has maple in it.

From the bottom of my heart, you won’t regret spending ALL your time in Maine.

Just did a 20 day road trip with stops in Shenandoah, the Catskills, the Adirondacks, Beverly MA, Portland and Bar Harbor.

Loved the Adirondacks, but Maine is something else. That weather.

Of course, you might have to make a stop at the Lake to visit Paul Allen.

ALL that said, we drove around Lake Champlain and really liked the area. Burlington is on Champlain and I’m sure you’d have a beautiful view of the Adirondacks from there.

If you go to Portland. Eat at Eventide. No reservations so be prepared.

I don’t disagree that one wouldn’t regret a fully Maine trip, but Vermont is a special state as well, in different ways. If you can experience both, do both.

Sure do. Hard to beat a sunset over The Adirondacks.

Whistle Pig tasting room in the same building, if that's your thing, too.

What’s the place to get lobster for dinner in Maine anywhere south of Portland.
