Need to get an appointment with them. Got a card instead of a book to fly into Canada on 7/19. We had asked at the post office where we applied and they told us the card was ok. Can anyone help ? Thx

Call Sen. Cassidy's office. Seriously. On that short notice it's the only way you'll get an appointment.

Where in Canada?

In the meantime, you find the closest airport in the US and rent a car from there and then drive into Canada. I know it's not ideal but if it's that or cancelling your trip at least it's an option.

Was flying into Calgary from Nola.
I’m seeing decent flights from BTR into Spokane. That’s the backup but adds a lot of driving. Granted I’m ok with that but a 5 yo daughter makes it a little tougher

Why would someone rely on a postal employee? The information is clear as day on the Passport page online.

Contact Cassady's, Kennedy's, and your representative's office. One can get it done. You might have to be willing to go to the passport office in Houston.

Friend of mine just did the same thing. Guess that degree for each of us didn’t make us any smarter.

What’s in Houston ?

Another passport office that is larger than New Orleans. Lots of folks have had to make the drive over here. Call your Senators' and your Reps office and see if any of them can get you an appointment anywhere nearby. There's also one in Dallas or Atlanta. I've heard of people having to fly somewhere farther away to get a passport.

Just. Damn man.

I hate your travel plans are mucked up and hopefully you can get an appointment to walk it through in a day. But, damn.

We went through this same ordeal in April. We worked with our congressional reps office and got it done a little over two hours before the flight left. It is hard to get an appointment even when a politicians staff is involved. You have to go to the passport office that has an available appointment which could be anywhere and the appointment for short notice emergencies will only be made within 5 days of your departure. It can be done but it requires some work.

I went thru Cassidy and got one in Nola.
When I tried with the Bureau office they had me going to Atlanta the day before my flight from Houston.
So as of now I’m back on schedule but not busting out the champagne either.

Truly glad it worked out for you.

Going forward, in addition to not taking a postal worker's advice on international travel... might I add:

- Don't take the advice of a McDonald's fry cook on which mushrooms you can eat from the wild.

- Don't ask Stevie Wonder for directions to his concert.

- Don't take marital advice from the O-T board.

If you have. the passport in hand or just the appointment you are good to go. The only appointment we could get anywhere in the country was in Dallas on the day of our flight. Fortunately our international departure was from DFW so it worked out, barely.

And every adult should have a valid passport. If you have one, renew it when you've got around a year left before it expires. Don't wait till you have a trip planned.
