Empty restaurant. Could tell he was really nervous. Asked for cash. Enforcement is real here. Have my EU Certificate tonight now.

What do you mean by this? Just curious. Like he was nervous to get Covid or he was nervous someone in the gov’t or what not would out them? Did they prefer cash to prevent transactional history you mean?

Damn, it is sad what we've come to accept in the last 2 years. Not pointing at you OP. Hope trip goes on smoothly and appreciate the updates.

As in the Stassi would come take his children or fine him for not following the rules. We went a second night it was so good. No issues second time around with having a QR Code. Used a card.

Few days into the trip. Link has selected photos. Still having a great time despite the protocols. Having to wear masks (not outside unless you want to) and getting carded to enter markets or stores won’t be for some. I view it as a minor inconvenience. We’re in Europe traveling! AND Germany is more stringent than some but that may change.

Our itinerary was altered because some States did cancel their Christmas markets. Potsdam on the day before we got there. Most haven’t. Hannover was great! I can tell you I’m done with them now anyway other than drinking Jagetee or Gluhwein while the Misses props up the local economy! Still extremely festive everywhere you go.

Don't mean anything by this, but assuming he was an immigrant? The German nationals aren't that worried are they? I mean I know their history but assuming that's not still a major worry with their government?

Yes he was Indian. Could have been. We are traveling in what was former East Germany.

BTW… Our tour guide has a colleague in Prague. Was told that everything is still a go. Very festive. Everything is open. Other than the Christmas markets which I’ve had enough of anyway. Only other additional requirement is we have to fill out a locator form To enter the country.

It’s a beautiful time of the year and I feel like the people over here really celebrate Christmas.

Germany (as are other countries) is experiencing this marked uptick in covid cases because they had relaxed their restrictions (coming out of lockdown), are still only at high 60's % full vaccination rate, and winter is driving folks indoors in the presence of the more contagious delta variant. In the face of their delta upsurge, they are now trying to avoid another lockdown, but strengthen reasonable preventative measures.

Entry requirements into Czechia:

Fill out online locator form. Returns a QR code. Supposedly no one ever asks for it but you better have it to enter the country.

Hilton Hotel required an entry form. Paper.

We have to produce a PCR test upon entering. It’s a saliva test that provides overnight results.

Supposedly the country requires you to wear a FFP2 NR mask. Not sure if it will be required or not yet.

Good times!

PS: Photos from Wittenberg and Dresden. The state of Saxony is on lockdown because of increased Covid cases so we weren’t able to get off the boat in Dresden.

EDIT 12/2/2021:

No one asked for a QR code to enter the country. Was told you don’t need the EU vaccination card like we had in Germany. US card is fine. Masks are required. Various types. City looks very vibrant.

As of now we are still scheduled to fly out to France in 2 weeks. I’m closely watching the expected travel restrictions Biden is supposed to be unveiling tomorrow as well as what they are doing in France. We have until next weekend to cancel the trip without much hoopla or loss.

This is surprising, is it due to lack of availability or are they simply opposed to it in general?

Who cares?

With 60% of population "vaccinated", there is no way that 40% of the population is causing the spike. This is the issue.
