Aspen got 6+” yesterday. It’s expected to be dry through the week. Next storm potential is Sunday per OpenSnow.

Now that season passes are on sale, I need to make a decision for next season.
I have Epic this year but I’m leaning towards Ikon for next year. Price isn’t a determining factor; for my family the Epic local pass is about the same price as the full Ikon Pass since the Ikon kids tickets are much cheaper than Epic.
The main benefit for me on Ikon would be avoiding the tunnel on day trips by going to Winter Park. But I’ve never skied a winter Park and don’t know if I’m switching tunnel traffic for Hwy 40 traffic.
Any advice?

Flying out to Denver on 3/21 and then going to Winter Park for a week. Anyone local hearing anything about possible closing of ski resorts? With the NCAA tournament news today, colleges going to online classes and government entities calling for no large gatherings, I’m very concerned about ski resorts closing.

The resorts are still open. Yesterday the governor said for anyone over 60 to avoid high country towns and resorts. I had trouble canceling a room in Vail for the weekend of the 21st because the condescending dick who answered the phone said “sorry, we’re still open for business”.
But this situation is very fluid and things change quickly.

Plan is to be in Park City next week for five days on the mountain.
I’m too excited for them to cancel flights or close mountains.
I haven’t seen any word on any resorts closing.

I expect they’ll stay open, unless traffic craters.
Jackson Hole had the opportunity to close today. But they just cancelled the end of season public festivals instead.

Yea I’m excited too for our trip and to the point where if airlines stop domestic travel(don’t think they will) I’m willing to make the 2 day drive to Colorado if the resorts are still open.

Vail resorts announced closing for a week starting tomorrow. Taos closes tomorrow also, I’m sure others will follow suit. Guess we’ll go to the desert for spring break. Mtn biking and camping season will start early.

Vail Resorts just suspended operations in Breck from March 15-22. I assume all of their resorts may be on the same plan.
Edit: Sorry I didn’t read above.

I was at Breck today. It was a great day but definitely a weird vibe. I guess that’s a wrap on the season.

Breck is still scheduled for skiing though May. Hopefully, we just miss a week.

Alterra just followed suit so add Winter Park and Steamboat to the Colorado closures. Think they are Deer Valley and Solitude in Utah. Imagine all are done for a couple weeks.

A Basin’s website says they are presently open.

They are all closed in Colorado. By order of the governor.

Official season is most likely over.
Time for the backcountry.

I live in Houston, but I'm debating on grabbing a short-term rental in SLC while I have the work from home mandate. Some backcountry skiing would definitely be in order.
