Just booked a VRBO house in Breck for Mardi Gras holidays, family trip. Finding reasonable flights for 4 out of NOLA has not been easy.

Checked temps in Breck to show family, 1 degree and "feels like -6"... They are asking for new coats for Christmas now.

You rang? What dates are you trying to fly? Willing to leave out of gulfport, baton rouge, or lafayette?

Yes, yes, and, yes. Have found options out of Mobile that are more reasonable.

Need a new pair of gloves/mittens.. Thoughts on which and why that over the other? Any recommendations on a brand and model?

Give me some more time to browse for you (should be able to check tonight), but I'm seeing roundtrip from Laffy to Denver for $365/person for those dates. LINK

Everything out of Nola is over $400...

I've been using the same pair of Marmot gloves for a long time (probably 10-15 years), not sure of the model but they look similar to this LINK. Still keep my hands warm, they're just starting to show signs of the outer layer falling apart but I'd recommend the brand at least

I'm interested too. I have an old pair of Gordini's that I like but are starting to wear thin and waterproofing is non-existent now.

I've heard really good things about Black Diamond

Well I got caught up on everything at work so I have some time now. I'll post what I found below, I think the lafayette flights in the link earlier are actually the cheapest bet, but timing could be better. Ticket price is for all 4 of you to travel, when you get to the actual website I would switch to main cabin/ regular economy rather than basic economy.

Mobile to Denver: $1652 on AA with a connection in Charlotte/Dallas LINK

Lafayette to Denver: $1522 on United with a connection in Houston. LINK

New Orleans to Denver: $2152 on Southwest. Would avoid this option, save the money for the resorts or a nice dinner

Baton Rouge to Denver: $1782 on United. LINK

Mobile to Colorado Springs: $1703 on American. Connections in Dallas both ways. LINK

Nola to Denver: $992 on Spirit and Frontier. This does not include seats, luggage, drinks, or anything else and it has a connection both ways (including a 7 hr layover in Austin on the return). There's saving money and then there's this option... LINK

Now if you wanted to do two one-ways, we could get you on spirit there going through vegas for $480 for all 4 of you. LINK

On the return we could get you on Frontier or American for around $800. LINKGrand total with the spirit flights above would be about $1400 if you wanted to split up the airlines.

Anyone here ever ski Grand Targhee before? I'm sneaking up there tomorrow night for a few days...terrain is 100% open. Can't wait!

In the meantime, I've been really, really happy with my Loveland season pass purchase. That mountain has held up quite nicely in this dry early season, and a great place to avoid the EpicBro i-70 weekend crowd. NO lift lines, even on weekends.

I just left that area, friend and his dad skied Targhee yesterday and said it was great with lots of powder and some very scenic views. Well worth going

Thanks again for your help on this Cuse, ended up going even farther out, didn't want to, but pulled the trigger on driving over to Houston. Found non-stop for $160 per, saved abut $1,000 compared to the cheapest anywhere else, being non-stop sealed the deal.

My boss took me out on his snowmobile today for some mellow backcountry shuttle pow laps. Got the sled stuck a few times, but hey that happens.

Went for a tour on Rabbit Ears Pass today. Sunshine and some short pow laps. Lotta people out cross country skiing.

My roommate getting after it.

Check out Hestra

Alpine Pro Line

https://hestragloves.com/sport/en-us/gloves/alpine-pro/

Pricey but will last for most of your skiing lifetime.

I tried these on at backpacker over the weekend. By far the most comfortable gloves I've ever worn. The coolest thing was they were not bulky at all compared to other ski gloves. Felt like I could actually maneuver my fingers and stuff in them. Probably gonna pull trigger here soon on a pair.

How is it looking in steamboat. Everything I see is looking rough for snow in the coming weeks.
