You do whatever works best for you they both are mostly the same
This is an Android to Apple thing. Idn what specifically Apple does but send that same video via sms to an android (or at least non apple device) and compare. Sms will definitely degrade the quality significantly but any pictures or videos sent to/from Apple devices are absolute doo doo garbage quality. It's pretty much accepted if it's not 100% intentional sabotage on apples part its a fortunate problem that they have no intention of fixing. The solution is to use an alternate messenger. Or just buy into cult of apple, which is basically the same thing as its built in. More or less comes out to the same thing in the end.

This is the only appeal of Android over Apple. If you want a phone that can access internet and social media crap, and that just plane works and simple to use, get Apple.

99% of the people that say this shite aren’t doing any of this. They are fake frickers loading up custom versions of the OS which I taught my 8 year old to do in an afternoon. Yey, we can make it look different and have better widgets and shite. True coders are gonna be coding and using both because let’s be honest, if you want to make money, you want to be on both. Apple sucks there's other apps for sending vids at full resolution you can get on both platforms. It's only like that because apple won't play ball with the rest of the world they gotta have something to make their users feel special. Android to Android works the same as apple now pretty much with Google messages being the standard using RMS. Good luck apple is a boring arse UI IMO. It's made for kids and chicks

This all changed about a month ago.
Google now automatically uploads videos to the cloud in full quality and sends the link instead. Zero quality loss.

You can't go wrong either way. Both make terrific phones. I once had a non phone Apple device I liked. So I was dead set eventually I was going to get a beautiful red iPhone. But then Samsung stepped up, and stopped making ugly Galaxies. And once I found out I could get a phone with expandable storage, the S20 became a no brainer. Texting videos isn't important to me, and most of my folks don't have Apple phones anyway. But it sounds like it is to you. So you probably made the right choice. I wish Samsung would stop making their phones in such dull colors, but once I put it in a case I don't notice the color that much.
Another thing I like about Galaxies is there is no intrusive notch at the top. Supposedly, Apple is supposed to get rid of that on the next iPhone. Another thing that bugs me about Apple is their own magnetic wireless charger stupidly has the cable built into the charger. So if the cable ever breaks the whole charger becomes useless. I like that my Anker wireless charger has the cable detachable.

I've been android for a long time. I've been very frustrated with my S9+, though. Some app notification do not work. Occasionally, when I plug my phone in to charge it thinks it has moisture in the charger. These are huge headaches. My next phone with be a Pixel.

That's only if you're using Google's app and as a Google chat app it's probably only a matter of time before it's cancelled
But on a serious note, if it sends a link, doesn't that mean it's public for anyone to enter into a browser? Not really willing to allow that for some stuff.
