Which camp are you for? For simplicity Apple gets the nod. However, I like Android for other reasons, and the big one is for the app store.

I had iPhone 1-4S, switched to android for a few iterations (GS4, Nexus) and switched back to iPhone 7plus. Both are fine. I probably prefer Apple though.

I've never had an Apple product.
I hate my wife's iPhone, but it's probably just because I've never really used one

I have one of each. Both work fine.

I prefer Android because I like to tinker with customizing different things, and I prefer the way it handles notifications. iOS is nice though, and some apps are much better there.

I think apple puts out great phones but i hate the closed ecosystem model.
The fact that their clouds, facetime, messaging, etc restricts them to only other iPhone users would drive me bonkers. I could never own one.
Granted: you can use all of googles substitutes these days even when owning an iphone, but if i'm going to be doing that i may as well just use the operating system that it works natively and seamlessly with.

I’m team whatever gets me better phones, Android and Apple need to both be putting out competitive products and forcing each other to not rest. Hell, I’m pro new OS/manufacturer as well.

I prefer Android phones, but iPads for tablets. I don't really side with either I guess. Though I do hate how Apple tries to force you onto their ecosystem.

Enterprise: Team Apple
Personal: Team Android
Admittedly it has been 6 years since I steered our corporate accounts to 100% iOS but that switch resulted in us simply buying a phone, placing it in an otterbox and telling the employee, "See ya in two years"
Literally ZERO trouble tickets for iOS problems. Android was unreliable in terms of working reliably with Exchange
Android for personal though use as it is a much more flexible and feature rich platform.

I've been back and forth several times. Probably Apple for the time being. Apple is really annoying and sort of invasive, for lack of a better term, but you get everything settled it's probably a smoother overall experience.

Don't do this, you know not of what you start.

I am going to go upgrade my phone today, and I currently have the iPhone 7. I don’t need my phone for work or anything terribly important, so which version of the iPhone do you guys recommend?

Xs/Xs plus unless you're trying to save money

If it's not that important to you to have the best, or don't need the best, the Xr is a great phone.

$750 for a "not the best" phone

The 8 Plus is a better phone than the XR
