Been thinking of trying out youtube tv for a while and my internet (currently with ATT in BR) is real slow and spotty at times so I feel like I should switch to cox before giving that a shot. Or if there's a better cheaper option here then I could do that too.

SO they have Internet preferred with up to 150 Mbps for $50 a month, internet ultimate wiht speeds of up to 300 Mbps for $60 a month and Gigablast which doesn't mention speed but must be fastest at $70 per month.

Anyone use cox and a streaming service here locally? If so I'd like to know if I need to spring for the highest gigablast option or if I can get by with either of the lesser options. TIA

150 is literally 10x or more than you need to cut the cord.

I would get 25+ if running multiple streams at once

I've got the 150 package with Cox and have been using Hulu through it for a while now.

My first device for Hulu was a Roku Premiere (because I have a Bravia TV and Hulu doesn't allow for local channels over a Bravia for some reason). After about 5-6 months the little bastard began over-heating (even if the front cover was off and the room was cold). I swapped over to a Roku Ultra LT and have had no problems since then (the Ultra can connect to 5Ghz signal where the Premiere could not, also noticed faaaaaaaar less buffering issues with local channels now).

Or not. It depends on the number of active devices in the household if it's wifi.

My new Cox bill said they were raising tv rates next month, my bill would go up $5. I'm looking to switch to youtube tv but its not on PS4 so I will need a streaming device. My mom has the basic Roku but the input is really slow. Will still probably end up getting a Roku though.

Are you uploading anything? might need to consider that as well, but 150 is usually more than enough, unless you are downloading files.

Thanks for the help. I don't upload a lot. An occasional movie maybe here and there maybe, but for most part just browse internet and checking email etc. Not into heavy gaming or using anything that I'd think would take up a lot of bandwidth. So if I went with the cheapest option it sounds like I would be ok. I have one firestick and an apple TV already and am about to get a google chromecast. Are any of these three better than others to stream, or am I better off going with a roku or other option?

If it doesn't work for you, it is always easier to call them up to increase your speed then it would be to decrease your speed.

Anything over 25-30 and you'll be fine unless you have a house full of teenagers. Look more for no data cap.

I cut the cord last year. At any given time someone is using the internet between my wife and kids. I have a 150MB connection and it works perfectly fine.

We stream multiple shows with very few problems, and our max is 12 Mbps and slower at peak times.

I think where you run into issues is online gaming and streaming of 4k content.

30Mbps would handle everything short of Disney+.

If you want full Disney+ then you probably want 75Mbps+.
