I can finally control my main TV with one remote. Used to have to turn on the TV, an LG, with the LG remote and control the volume with said remote since it’s hooked up to a SONOS playbar. But the ultra can be programmed to control the LG power and the volume. Since the TV is programmed to control the SONOS, the roku controls all! Sorry if that’s confusing, I’m just so happy!

And the picture is phenomenal too.

I would like to congratulate you for reaching 2012 levels of technology and getting an HDMI-CEC chain that works.

My roku controls everything... and I am pretty sure it is not the ultra but the cheapest Sam's/costco special available at the time I needed it 5 years ago.

I do hate the remote, but it does work.

wait until you figure out how to hook it up to alexa to turn on/off turn up/down volume and play certain apps or find certain movies.

Wait until you find out you can buy a 70” Roku TV for about $400. One remote out of the box is all you’ll ever need, with no plugins

The smart functions on our older 65" suck so it got a roku added to it. Our 75" in the main room has android TV (or google TV, I guess the name changed) and it is just as easy to use as Roku.

I have the Ultra and like it.

Only thing I hate is when I request music on Youtube using voice and the remote always kicks me over to Pandora or Spotify instead.

My Samsung smart TV YouTube app often does the same. I ask for an artist or song and get, "Playing that on Spotify." No, bitch. I want to see a video of it. That's why I'm in fricking YouTube.

Or get a fire stick that does all of that, allows loading of Kodi, and can change channels on your cable box via voice commands.

Kodi,

You've clearly never had a woman, MIL, or babysitter try to run your XBox Media Center, either.

Kodi is fine for those of us with a NAS running a media center, but that's not the tone of the OP.

I have a question about the roku ultra. I have HULU plus live TV, and their app is terrible. It buffers regularly even though I have a wired network to the TV and Fiber to the house.

I reset the app, and the cache, and it will be fine for a day or two, then starts doing it again.

Would a roku ultra help with that? The apps runs through roku, right, so it's not using the native app?

Me, too, but not because the Roku TV doesn't work, but because my HOA provided streaming app (Bluestream Fiber) is not available on Roku.

I am very much liking my Bluestream streaming service, although I'm sure I probably pay too much through my HOA. The feature I like the most is the ability to watch any TV show from the last 4 days from the start without having to set a DVR. Anytime I'm scrolling through shows, I don't have to worry about missing anything - I just start it over. All streaming services should do this.

FireTv Stick has been doing this for a long time now.
