Recommendations for wireless home security camera system

Looking for something that I can install myself easily, has good camera quality, is motion activated, is accessible / controllable via an app (i.e. I get sent notifications to my phone when the camera is activated) and records.
I have a Sonos wireless speaker setup in my home, and I'd love something that operates similarly (e.g. with an app on my phone that ties everything together).
I've heard of Arlo and Nest. Anything else I should look into? Anything to avoid?
Best bang for the buck?

I'm very happy with my Nest.
ETA: very simple to set up but pretty powerful recording tool and great app for the phone.

I recently got this system a few months ago. Installed myself with help of a friend to run the wires. Works great. Have up to a weeks worth of storage with all cameras recording 24/7. Motion activated. Scheduled recording. Live view app if you have the DVR wired to your home internet (wish the DVR was wireless). Thoroughly feel like I've got my monies worth with this system. Especially since I got it on the cheap for black friday.

I'm looking at the Arlo Pro right now. Anyone got any experience with it? I like that there are no wires and you can look back 7 days on the cloud for free. Looks easy to setup and operate too which is good since I'm not super tech savvy.

Blink. Simple and easy uses wifi so each camera has to be able to reach wifi. I think you can have like 10 cameras on one system.

I own a two camera blink system. One of which has been outside for months and works fine. Fantastic investment IMO.

I don't have the Pro, just the regular Arlo system.
I like it. Really clear picture, quick alerts to motion, and I haven't had any issues accessing recordings.
It's also extremely easy to set up. Hook the transmitter to your router, open the Arlo app and begin set up.

I'm pretty happy with Ring. I got one of their Ring Pros and got a invite to test the new floodlight at a reduced cost before it was released. I took them up on it and I really like it. The floodlight is superbright and love that it's motion activated. One light lights up my entire back yard and the camera FoV is pretty impressive.
Camera is wireless, but floodlight is not, it replaces an outdoor light or you will have to find a way to run power to it.

Just wanted to bump this and ask how well the Arlo is performing. How long have the batteries lasted?
We are pulling out the wallets on the 4-camera Pro version. I was shocked to see that Amazon and Best Buy were comparable in price and taxes so we're springing $649 for it at Best Buy. Normally I wouldn't go near that place, but I guess the popularity and constantly favorable reviews are keeping the price high everywhere.

I have an Arlo pro. so amazed by its "TalkToCam" feature.i found in here reviews of wireless cams. made me decide to go for arlo.

Bad thing is if you have an iPhone you really can't change the type of alarm / notification you get. You can't change the ringtone. If you're sleeping you are shite out of luck as it's sort of a default single tone that is not loud. That pissed me off, but I like the 2 way communication and good picture.

I'm thinking about getting a couple of these to replace 2 current floodlights and fill in 2 areas that I don't have good camera coverage with my existing system.
How is the picture quality? And is the cloud storage service a decent value?

They have a Ring elite that just came out. Have a friend who was beta testing it and he could hear the garbage men talking while picking his trash up in the street.
Only thing that I don't understand is it uses a cat5 for power but you can't hardware it to the network. Seems dumb consider the only problem with these things are wifi related.

Those with Blink seem to have been pleased so far. Anyone used the outdoor XT model yet? Looking to get one for the front and back porch. I have a nest inside the dog lair, but I don't want to mess with running power to these.

I have a Nest cam inside. It is good enough. I am trying to avoid running power to the camera and I also like the idea of free cloud storage.
