Question About YouTube TV

I just switched from Cox about 10 days ago, and so far, my only issue is that when I access the program guide to change channels, it takes roughly 5 - 6 seconds for the guide to appear. A circle swirls around on my TV, and then, eventually, the program guide becomes visible.
Does this happen to any of you? I gain access to the program guide by pushing the "back" button on my Sony TV's remote control. Is there perhaps a faster way to see the channel guide?
Thanks for any information you may be able to provide.

I never use the built in smart TV apps. Sounds like it's either a poorly-coded app or maybe more likely the built in OS/hardware is just slow. I put a Roku on every TV and never touch the TV's own smart stuff. No complaints for me that way.

I think it might be your internet or TV in general. If the actual video is clear, I'd assume it's your TV. I know before I got my Apple TV, the stock apps on my TV would run slow. If it really bothers you, I would look into getting a 3rd part streaming box (Apple TV, Roku Ultra, etc)

I was running as many as 4 tvs wirelessly with Youtubetv running through Apple TV. No buffering at all.
If you are running it wired through your tv and it is buffering, I suspect it is your ISP/router or a clunky TV software.

Probably the shitty built in TV apps. I’ve gone full AppleTVs on every TV in the house and even the older HD ones from 5 years ago still work great.

Sounds like an older Sony TV. Get a streaming device.

Roku ultra is the amswer, just make sure you are buying a current model released within the last year or two.

Exactly what I do. Roku stick on all my TVs

The other benefit is that when traveling you can take the device with you and plug it in at the condo to watch the game or movies.

I can’t get a good picture on the YTTV app on my Roku. I have to use the one on my LG. the picture settings needed to watch live sports on a roku app vs netflix 24fps stuff are very different and I am not changing the pic settings when switching from Netflix to ESPN app.

Roku has an automatic frame rate matching setting located in the advanced settings but it isn't always used by the apps.
If frame rate matching is important then Apple TV is about the only streaming device out there that will match everything.

you are actually right about that frame rate matching setting. Admittedly I am MASSIVELY sensitive to ANY soap opera effect. i turn off all the trumotion and anti-judder etc,
the bigger issues though are with the black levels. WAY too dark. basketball is especially bad.

get an apple TV and hook it up to any TV no matter how old and you're good to go. Extremely responsive.
Best part?
NO FKN ADS ON THE HOME SCREEN

My samsung tv is actually slower than my vizio tv.
My issue with youtube tv is the channel listing doesn’t identify mens sports vs womens sports.

Latest generation of Apple TV 4K box is about as fast and as good as it gets. Great investment — $149 for wifi/ethernet port version; $125 for wifi-only version.
Note: New generation Apple box comes out in October.
