Question about switching from Verizon to AT&T

We had AT&T for years and switched to Verizon about 3 years ago. Verizon's service has seemed to go to crap the last 6 months or so, so we're thinking of switching back to AT&T.
My question is, we still owe on the phones on several of our lines. Has anyone taken the payout from AT&T to switch to them? Just wondering how reliable they are when they say they'll pay off your phones.

Verizon is the most expensive of the big 3 currently.
Look into t mobile
Better coverage and more account pluses than att in most areas

I would imagine AT&T would honor the buy out agreement.
However, I would look into US Mobile or other MVNOs. Almost 100% chance it will be cheaper per month than Verizon or the Death Star.
Here are the plans from US Mobile.

AT&T gave me some sort of credit to help pay off what I owed to Verizon.
Whatever they promise you, I would get it in writing.
I switched about eight months ago and so far I’m happy I did
Verizon was really beginning to suck in customer service, especially at their stores. Some of their employees at the stores were very rude and actually acted with hostility.

MINT. Any MVNO. Deal with the pain of buying your 14 year old a $1200 phone instead of pretending it only costs $14 a month. That's all you are paying for with the big 3.

I have had Visible for years, Verizon bought them a couple of years ago, no real customer service, but in many I've never needed it. The best part is you get the Verizon towers and it's only $25 a month per line.
I have no idea why anyone uses anything else. Cheap, fast, good coverage, no brainer.

Yup, Visible is great for us. Super easy to set up and use.
