PSA: Heat kills Computers!

Just took my Desktop PC case down to the local car repair place. He was happy to let me use his high-pressure compressed air machine for a PC "blow job". Crap came pouring out from both sides. There was lots of dust packed into the fan that cools my CPU. My CPU couldn't breathe. On one oft-used task, my CPU temp was peaking at 101C. Running that same task after the blow job shows peaking at 77C.
The whole procedure took about 2 minutes. Prob the best 2 minutes you'll ever spend caring for your machine.

So you’re saying improper air flow can damage electronics?? Lol

I sure hope that air you forced in your computer was clean and dry.

You want to vacuum electronics, not blow them.

not blow them
Vacuuming is recommended. Even on game systems

Compressed air is fine for blowing out a stack of heat fins on a cooler, but blowing out an entire computer is a very dangerous game. You got lucky
But yes, method aside, routine maintenance is crucial for computers. I probably clean the inside of my pc every season or so.

Depends where it is. Everything in the case should be removable from the case. If you've removed everything and the case is still filthy, then sure, blow it out to your heart's content

Disassemble it and use something like a DataVac. There are a bunch of attachments available to get into the little hard to reach places. You don't want to use a regular vacuum anyway because they can generate static electricity.

Company issues Dells and the batteries are absolute crap. My last battery ballooned up twice the size of it's original size. Can't believe it didn't explode. I wfh more often than not so I bought a lap top fan to put my computer on when I'm at home. Don't want to burn the house down with a work computer. It stays pretty cool now.

The oil and water from an air compressor would only serve to keep the PC even cooler right?

If he actually took it to a car repair shop to do this, then I would assume a place like that would have an inline water separator.
