I use Cox. My neighbor had AT&T for a short time and had nothing but trouble with it.

That the dynamic IP issue? I just got rid of that high arse Cox bill I don't fancy jacking it up again for a static IP.

So looking at the list I am just wondering:
Do they plan to pick up CW?
If Fox is on demand than I am assuming I will need another option to watch NFL games.
If this has already been addressed I apologize as I only read through 5 pages

Don't know. I don't believe anything has been said about future channel releases other than locals.

This is correct. For now, you need an antenna for HD local channels. This will eventually be released as part of Vue. It's rolling out a little at a time. Some cities already have it.

Couldn't you cancel the service and sign up again from your new house?

Without reading through 40+ pages of threads, I'm curious if I should drop SlingTV for PS Vue? I only have AppleTVs and iPhone but I just AirPlay SlingTV to the appleTVs most of the time anyways. Figured I could do the same for PS Vue.
However, can I use the pause, rewind, forward capability by the phone app with AirPlay? Also, it looks like I'd lose ESPN3. That may be a deal breaker.

When will we see the Xbox, Google, Apple TV, and Amazon versions of cable TV?

That's the plan..but I want to know if the best way to go about this is:\
1. Logging into vue at my new location, then getting the error message
2. Getting set up at my new location and informing them before I log into vue.
I've already gotten my IP/Location/whatever reset once because I switched routers. I've read that they only do that a few times every 3 months, so I don't want to screw myself.

Pretty sure XBOX is about to do it. Direct TV is about to start it up in August I believe.

When will we see the Xbox, Google, Apple TV, and Amazon versions of cable TV?
If 5 or 6 streaming services are all fighting for the rights to stream each "cable" channel, that just gives the channels more leverage to raise fees. They will all have to match the highest bidder or lose out on the channel, and the more bidders there are the higher the bids will go. So then the cost of the streaming services will keep inching up until they cost what a cable TV package does (OR they will stay cheap, but the channels you like will be spread across multiple services and you'll still spend just as much to get the channels you want).
So I think that whole scenario has to play out before another round of cutting happens, then HOPEFULLY a better system will come around. IMO, it won't be ideal for consumers until the bundling stops and we can subscribe to individual channels a la carte. Or, better yet, individual shows. We sort of have this now, but they are priced ludicrously high in order to protect all of the existing deals with cable companies.

Can someone tell me how well the PS Vue service with Fire TV works with just a wifi connection? I don't want to run Ethernet cable unless I have to. I have download speed of around 50mbps. Thanks.

I have one in the next room for the router, probably about 25 ft away and there's no buffering at all, and that's while having another fire tv streaming wired.

I have one wired and two wireless. I have a ubiquiti Unifi AP and they are both rough 20 ft away with one wall separating them.
From time to time when streaming Netflix I'll have a slight lag in it getting to an HD picture.
The PS Vue menu doesn't load quite as fast as the wired connection, but it's not enough to be an aggravation. I have not experienced an increased amount of buffering between the two.

I use MOCA on my router. This let's me use the cable in my house (that normally is used for cable tv) for Internet. I subscribe to Time Warner for their MAXX service at 100/10 Mbps.
Every once in a while, the FireTV boxes will lose the wired connection and immediately go into wireless mode. I only notice this when I try to use Plex. If Plex stutters, I go into the box and change it back to wired. Other than this, I really don't see any difference in image quality or buffering between wired and wireless.

I also have cable run throughout the house. Is this solution as simple as installing a MOCA adapter at each Fire TV location and that's it? Please explain how to set this up, in simple old man terms. Thanks.

quote:I originally had Verizon Fios, which is already a MOCA network, but cancelled that and went with Time Warner Cable Internet since they were offering 100/10 for $45 a month on a 1 year commitment and Verizon wanted $80 for 50/25 for a two year commitment. In order to have MOCA, I ordered my own modem/router with MOCA. The one I ordered is a Motorola 1800M. It worked with my existing MOCA adapters just fine.

*edit- the technician for Time Warner was a numb nutz. You'll need to be able to log in to your modem, and then activate MOCA. Be sure that all your cable TV lines and connected and then you'll need a line splitter connecting your cable lines and the incoming line from the cable company. It comes in the box if you order the Motorola.
