My Epson is leaving horizontal lines across the page nothing has fixed it. Looking for replacement. Want to go black and white and thinking of laser. Still need scanning function too. What’s reliable and won’t break the bank to operate?
TIA
TIA

Pretty hard to go wrong with any brother laser printer

Agree with Brother.
However, there should be a switch you can pull across the drum unit which will "scrape" unfused toner out of the drum. It's been a long arse time since I got my A+, but it's probably attached to the toner unit which you've replaced before. Pull it left to right and reseat it, and see if it helps.

I'm a Brother man also. Had a MFC Brother inkjet for about 8 years with nary an issue. Can't remember what went wrong with it, but after I had to get another, I was given an HP and it was a POS. I've been an HP hater before HP hating was cool.
About a year ago, I bought a black and white Brother laser, and it's solid as can be.
You can buy the Chinese off brand laser cartridges on the cheap and use them and they work perfectly fine.

Thanks everyone, I was already leaving Brother and now it’s nearly unanimous.

I have an Epson XP-820 that was doing the same thing you described - I used the built-in head cleaning maintenance procedure available via the menu - had to do it twice before the print was normal. Worth a shot.

Another vote for Brother, but if you need cheap color the Brother InkVestment series works really well. The colors aren't as crisp as a laser, but the ink lasts a really long time and they don't clog up like the Epson printers do.

I have a Brother color laserjet MFC-9330. Never have any issues with it.
