Pixel 11 line out. Google cuts specs, raises prices

Google raised the prices as expected but gave decent trade in values.
The ram is cut on the pros from 16 to 12. If you want the 16, you have to get a 512 gb storage one. Those are $1500. Yeah. No 1 tb if you need it. Got rid of the 128 gb option.
Also cut the free year of Gemini Pro to six months.
Google ditched Samsung for the antenna and replaced it with mediatek.
Just watched MB's quick review. he was underwhelmed. The so called notification glow was botched. You can only customize it for favorites when they call. Can't give texts a color, emails a color, etc.
If only there was a company called Blackberry that showed how to make a proper notification light.

Glad Verizon gave me a new 10 pro, then. I can wait until 2029, or Pixel 14 - easily.

The temp sensor was way more useful than a stupid glow light and it was very accurate if used properly. The light is stupid Google can't get out of its own way, so much potential yet they refuse to do what's needed to be elite. Phone needs more horsepower to do what they want you can only software so much before more juice is needed. Loved my pixel 10 pro XL until android 17 came and it ran hot all the time, the last update seemed to fix a little bit of it

Haven't had any of those issues since the Android 17 update. Works fine as it always has. Frankly, I can't figure out the difference between 16 and 17.
As for the notification lights, as I stated earlier, Blackberry gave you the road map, allowing you to customize different types of messages and calls with different colors. It was a very nice feature

I came to pixel 10 pro XL from the two previous samsung ultras. I'm going back to Ultra for my next phone.

I'm coming from my pixel 8 pro xl. Best and longest lasting phone I've ever had. I went ahead and got my pre-order in for the 11 pro xl 16/512. Can't wait. I'll report back.

Just read Google has confirmed the new Tensor SOC is not the new TSMC 2nm process as was rumored. The SOC is using TSMC's 3nm process.

Yup. Unless you get Pro XL with 16gb and at least half a TB, it is a downgrade. Can't believe it blew it this badly.

I suspect all manufacturers are feeling the pressure of chip shortages. Even a company like google is at the mercy of supply and demand.

Google usually has great sales for pixels on Black Friday. I suspect they'll be really good this year because by then sales are probably going to be below projections

My S23U has seen better days, and I'd been debating going back to a Pixel just for a change of pace. I may still do it, but I'm also eyeing the S26 more than I was a few weeks ago because of the less than stellar Pixel 11. I haven't used a Pixel since the 3.

I ended up going with the 11 pro xl. I've been on OneUI for a few years, so I need to reprogram some muscle memory for Pixel UI, but all in all, I'm liking it. I haven't had a chance to push the hardware or try out camera stuff.
When I last switched from Pixel to Samsung, OneUI was fine, but now that I'm back on a Pixel I'm reminded that Google really does nail the software aspect of phones. Samsung isn't bad, but it never felt as frictionless to me as Pixel.
I never jived with Samsung's camera, but I also never really cared much as I usually have an actual camera with me most places I'd want to take pictures. Maybe the Pixel will get me back in to liking smartphone pictures. Who knows?
If they could only bring back the rear fingerprint scanner

Every smartphone I've owned before now has been a Pixel. I was using a Pixel 8 Pro and wasn't going to upgrade this year as the Pixel 11 specs looked underwhelming. So I was going to wait another year.
However a few weeks ago, I saw the Samsung Z Fold 8 and tested it at Best Buy for an hour and loved it. Just loved the shorter & wider form factor.
I wound up pre-ordering that and been using it for a couple weeks now. Don't regret my decision one bit. Battery life & heat are far superior compared to my old P8P.
I prefer the stock Android UI but still getting used to Samsung's One UI.

I just went from an S24+ to the Pixel 11 Pro
Slight adjustment to the UI differences, but I feel like we are at the point where a phone is just a phone, and it's been that way for a while.
There is nothing new really. I use all the same apps as before

I tried the Ultra a couple of years ago. After two months went back to the pixel. Software was just so much better.
