Noise Cancelling Headphones

Who makes the best noise cancelling headphones for $500 or less? I set the bar at $500 because the Air Pods Max are on sale for that price. Is there a better option at or below that price point? Superior noise cancelling is the most important feature needed.

I have the Bose Headphones 700, and they are VERY comfortable and of excellent quality.
I thought about the $500 max but I'm glad I went with this pair because they sound great and have a very long battery life.

I’d be surprised if the sennheisers weren’t the best option for that price.

Sony should win, but they've been stepping on their own dicks and still haven't made a headphone that tops the the XM4s.
Get Sony if you prioritize sound, get Bose QC Ultras if you prioritize noise cancellation

Have you compared these with the xm4s? The 5s reviews were terrible. Both of my kids have had the 4s for several years and they have been excellent and held up much better than the beats they had before that.

Literally went to Best Buy yesterday and tried on evert pair. These were the most comfortable. Has 12 microphones built in for noise cancellation. $499. I went to buy and they were completely sold out. Best But in Pensacola. So guessing others felt the same way.

For what you can get them for now, the XM4s are still the best buy

This is probably the answer. Although the 700s are probably still the best for call audio.
AirPods Max are great all around headphones if you find them comfortable. Obviously the build quality is great and they don't really suffer in any area. But the absence of a power toggle, low power, ultra low power thing was dumb and remains dumb.

Highly rec bose. They are so comfortable. They have great noise cancellation too. Either high end model.

Yes, but They do auto sync so well with your iPhone and music. Text messages autoconvert to voice and auto-play for you etc.

I have the Sonos Ace headphones and love them. Though I may be bias because my house is pretty heavy in Sonos ecosystem. Used them at the house to watch TV after the wife goes to bed and when I'm traveling. Comfortable, great ANC, and 30 hour battery life.

Thanks for all of the great recommendations!

I got the Sony XM3 a while back and still have them and like them. Too bad I didn't get the 4s. However, once I got my QCII buds, I leave the Sony home a lot. Its so much easier bring the buds on trips. Of course over the ear are better for NC, but I don't give much up for the comfort. Got my wife the Ultras and she loves hers.

Such a weak selling point for APMs. I turn on my Sony XM4s and they immediately connect to my Android phone and Macbook Pro. Not sure how much more seamless it gets than that. Plus I can wear them for 8 hours straight and forget they're there.
