Smart Thermostat. Nothing better than changing the temp without having to get up from bed

interested in getting into home automation??

you will need to budget roughly $50/lightswitch for the ones that you want to automate.

I'm waiting for the CAD mega thread

But is Schlage the only keypad deadbolt worth a damn?

What about those Samsung locks? I know they're not connected but they look sleek.

I've had nothing but problems with Schlage. I prefer kwikset.

yep. features, compatibility with different systems, customer support, hands-down far-and-away the best smart lock.

kwikset suckkkks. what problem have you had with schlage?

i had a bad unit once and they happily mailed me not one, but TWO to replace it. all i did was call to ask a couple of questions.

schlage has been a rockstar and the level-1 security plate is a nice touch.

I was going to buy Schlage but our realtor got us the Kwikset instead.

It's been fine. We did replace the shitty Kwikset entry handle for a Schlage within 6 months, however.

I've seen all types of issue. Everything from not enrolling to mechanical problems. Now don't get me wrong I've had issue with kwikset too but not nearly the same frequency. Plus kwikset support is better for me.

I get it you have Schlage on your house and it's the best. I know. I'm just telling you my personal preference. Out of Yale, kwikset, and Schlage I prefer kwikset.

i dont disagree but HOW?? you can read back through my threads; schlage answers on like the 3rd ring and hang out to help with installation issues and pairing it with wink (which they certainly didnt have to do).

no voice tree, no run-around. just a friendly person that picked the phone up and immediately solved my problem.

kwikset have like 100 codes you can set up?

full integration with a smart hub so you can manage all codes from an easy-to-use phone app instead of standing there at the door reading 6-pt type from a manual?

built in alarm, tamper sensor, touchcreen, and level-1 security components?

bump-proof?

Kwikset gives handjobs to all C4 dealers.

And all those things you listed they all pretty much do. Well kwikset does 30 codes not 100. So you can put that feather in your hat. Like I said it's just my preference. I deal with both brands and Yale, kwikset gives me the least amount headaches.

kwikset's internals are shitty compared to Schlage or Yale.

just bought/installed schlage on the front door
probably thermostat next
doubt i'll do the automated lighting, i don't want my kids to grow up to be absolute lazy little shits

i figure i'll automate everything regarding security and controls that are typically left for the adults(AC/garage etc.) but lighting and anything else that would teach a kid to not be lazy, i won't waste money on

Had my kwikset for 3 years and not a single issue. Mine is the wifi z wave version so we change batteries about twice a year.
