an OTA antenna will get you sports on the major networks if you can get a decent signal. add a $50 hdhomerun box to add the ability to watch live tv on any tv in the house and watch different shows on different tvs at the same time. throw in plex and you add DVR capabilities to your live tv.

a *ahem* particular reddit sub will get you ESPN for all LSU games and other sports.

i just called comcast again (once a year call) to get their Blast! (125/down, 15/up i believe) for $49/mo for another year (no tax). just beware if you have a data cap (1TB for comcast) that all these newfound streaming services will eat that up with the quickness so you may have to start paying attention to any tv 'left running'.

if you have prime and netflix you'll have movies and tv shows coming out of your eyeballs.

honestly, the only thing you won't like is the 'sketchy' espn feeds but they're almost always HD and there are almost always 20 different links (constantly changing).

why does she want bravo? more than likely most of what she would watch on there is already on prime or netflix anyway.

eta then make friends with a couple of us on here with decent plex libraries and you wont have to worry about HBO shows.

I get 17 channels with my hd antenna (all of the major networks and locals). I made the mistake of going with the foil backed plywood in my attic.

I get 30 free channels with my at&t service plus free HBO.

Beyond that, I pay for prime for its many benefits and I also pay for Netflix because it is so cheap and has an unlimited supply of awesome shows.

There is no chance I run out of stuff to watch for years.

The only issue I ever have is watching LSU or the Saints if they are on ESPN (which is rare).

They did it to me in December.

Beginning of 2018 my bill was never higher than $150. They offered me a premium channel package that put my bill at $170 in the spring. At the time I thought that when the package expired, I'd drop back down to the $150 I'd been paying.

Package expired in December and I got a $223 bill. Called to drop the premiums and was told that would drop my bill to $216. Asked them to drop everything except basic cable and was told my monthly would be $206.

Finally got the bill down to $164/mo, but learned my lesson and will be cutting the cord soon.

I do antenna for ABC/NBC/CBS/FOX.

If I were you, I'd look into PS Vue/DirecTV Now/Youtube TV to get Bravo for your wife.

Any of those streaming providers will give you credentials to plug into dedicated apps like the ESPN app, NBC Sports app, etc. if you want to watch within those standalone apps.

Without researching the others, one of the PS Vue tiers has all those sports channels.

But honestly, another option if you have other cable providers (AT&T) providing service, I'd just switch to them for their 2 year promo and then cut cord or switch back to Cox. The promo price Cox and AT&T offer for cable + internet is very close to the cost of internet and streaming services.

I have the cheapest Direct TV Now package. It has CBS (in Baton Rouge) ESPN, ESPN 2, and yes it has Bravo. However I have kids, so Disney and Nick Jr were must haves. DTV Now had the best deal as far as that was concerned.

I dumped Cox for ATT Uverse about a year ago. Same package at half the cost. I'll have the two bid against each other on the anniversary. Competition is a good thing.

I believe most if not all of the streaming services have bravo.

All offer free trials. I think the best thing to do would be to try them all out and see what works best for you.

All my cord cutting expenses were within my first year. Savings will be on the back end. Here is what I mean.

Catching locals via a service all depends on where you live. With Directv Now, I caught all locals while living in Baltimore but only Fox when I moved back to Lafayette. So, if you find a service that catches all your locals, perfect.

I pay $40/mo for GoBig package with HBO. Lifetime rate b.c. I purchased when Directv Now launched.

Without locals, I purchased a Tablo. Allows me to record OTA TV. Also allows me to view remotely. Both features where very important b.c. we watch a lot of sitcoms.

Paid $150 for device, $100 for 5 tbyt hardrive and $150 for lifetime subscription.

Next year, I will have no OTA expenses. Only the $40/mo Directv Now bill.

I live in a neighborhood that has two fiber internet providers. Not sure I would have done this without fiber.

Good Luck

I decided to drop Direct TV for Hulu live in December and so far so good. I chose Hulu over the other services because it gave the option to have unlimited screens.

Keep in mind the price you are paying now is a bundle package. If you drop cable your internet will go and you will have a data cap. For me, my internet goes up $20 if I dropped cable so switching to PSVue or Sling wouldn't really save me much plus I'd have a data cap to worry about.

I have ATT Uverse at $49

I don’t include that in my overall TV bill because I would already have that regardless of my TV service.

Sling $49
Netflix $20
Amazon $10 ($119/yr)
Hulu $6

$85/mo

Will add HBO for a short time during GOT at $15/mo.

Just go with internet from the cable company. I have Netflix, kodi, and YouTube tv. I went with YouTube because it has all the sports channels including SECN in it's basic package

ESPN+ Will get you all the games on their network. A cheap 40 mile multi-directional HD antenna will get you NBC, CBS, ABC, and FOX for all the games they carry.

That is, unless you live out in BFE.

There's only YouTubeTV. There are no tiered packages. You can add subscription channels like Showtime and MLB, but otherwise, no tiers.

To see what locals are available in any zip code on YouTubeTV, use this link:
