Least expensive way to legally get local channels only?

Can't justify YouTube TV anymore with the increase in price. I wish I could use an antenna for my locals but living in Natchitoches we are just a bit too far from the towers in Shreveport and Alexandria to consistently get a solid signal. Any other options out there?

What type of antenna did you try? You can definitely pick up stations in Alexandria with a pole-mounted yagi antenna, and probably even ones in Shreveport too if you aim it well.

You might need to get a better antenna or locate yours better. Try the attic and an amplifier. A little upfront cost for the hardware could save you a lot of down the road. Look up the site that shows where all the local stations are in relation to your house. Will show you what kind of antenna works best for you, directional or not and what way to point it. You can also couple it with something like an hdhomerun to stream it. From there it's pretty simple to dvr it... But I digress

I have a Terk one that I got from Best Buy that works well. I get about 45-50 channels depending on where I place it. Most of them are garbage channels but I do get Fox, NBC, CBS, ABC, Ion, Grit, and a few other decent ones.

I actually have one in the living room and one in the bedroom. The one in the bedroom is a little more limited based on the location, but still works well for a decent price.

There's no reason you can't get Shreveport or Alexandria channels, unless you have a lot of obstructions, as in tall trees, in the direction you should be pointing your antenna.

I'm on far east side of Baton Rouge and i catch Lafayette channels on my mohu leaf that's in a window facing south southwest, when lafayette is due west. I'm sure if you pointed a better antenna in the right direction you'll catch whatever channels you're looking for.

How about a yagi or decent panel antenna in the attic attached to a Homerun box? get your OTA channels over your LAN or wifi.

If streaming is your best option it looks like you can sign up for streaming direct with CBS for $6 / month. I don't know how much if any local content is included. I assume that ABC and NBC have something similar.

Those are our "local channels" and we are in the DMA for both Shreveport and Alexandria.

I will try some of the suggestions made so far. Thanks.

This helped me a lot: LINK /

Couple hundred up front, we get channels ~80 miles away with an attic mounted antenna and lots of trees around.

The HDHomeRun lets us watch the channels on any tv in the house with a device on the network, we use fire sticks.

Get an outdoor antenna, preamp, on a push up pole.

I’m in Opelousas and catch Lafayette, Baton Rouge, lake Charles, and Alexandria locals.

if you get a good antennae, there are some really good wifi apps to "split" the signal to TVs

I lived in Mississippi between Natchez and Woodville, with a 40 foot pole and this antenna [link=(LINK)]LINK[/link] with a rotor & inline amplifier and I could pick up channels from Alexandria, Shreveport, Baton Rouge, Jackson MS,& Lafayette LA.. Takes a little work but its possible.
