You won't get gig speeds as pretty much no servers can deliver it to you. You will most likely a lot less than that most of the time. I would say somewhere in the neighborhood of 200-400 most of the time up and down.
Hell, at gigabit speeds a lot of times the hard drive becomes the bottleneck. But if you have multiple devices downloading or streaming, then you could probably come close to saturating a gigabit line. Or one computer with an SSD torrenting.

That's awesome. LUS may lower their prices depending on popularity. Still a great deal regardless.
LUS may actually get my priced lowered, Chattanooga has been actively trying to stay ahead of the curve. I hope we see 10 gigabit soon here.

I'm curious to see about this. With the 80 up and down I have now to torrent downloads, streaming, etc. it is smoking fast. I might upgrade at some point, but right now I don't think I need it..... Do you notice a huge difference? (with the gigabit)
On anything that can support my speeds, I notice a huge difference. Everything is pretty much instant with no loading. Some things are still slow just because of the source I am getting it.
I moved on to hosting a lot of my own stuff with it as well.

I thought everyone in the parish had access by now, but I certainly could be wrong.
I live in the parish but not in the city limits and it's not available. I think the southern boundary is Verot.

And to think I pay $77 a month for HughesNet. Ahhh, the perks of rural living.

Yea, it may just be the city for now. Hopefully the whole parish will get it at some point. There are so many neighborhoods south of Verot, I would be surprised if they don't expand. Of course, the parish line is around there and I know this is a lafayette parish deal.

Not that anyone cares but Cox recently announced they will be offering Gigabit soon. For the life of me I don't know why these ISPs feel the need to succumb to the masses by offering speeds that cannot possibly be utilized by a household. It's silly.
Everyone's drinking the fiber Kool aid like it's the best thing ever. Some businesses operate on a 100Mbps connection without issue. So why does a household need 1Gbps again?

Cox announced plans to offer it in certain markets in the future. They won't have the infrastructure to offer it in LA anytime soon

They will deploy Gbps to new devolpments in ALL regions.
