Marketing bro. Unfortunately, marketing a shitty product at the detriment of android.
Is it the marketing or is it the screens which Samsung is good at because they make them? Samsungs have always had good screens and that's probably the easiest to spot thing for someone that's walked into a phone store without doing much research.

The ecosystem - Worlds better than the mismash of different tools you have to use on Android to achieve the same thing. It's all so seamless and easy - I absolutely love it.
I don't understand this. The ecosystem is only better if you actually own Apple computers, and I wouldn't expect someone who primarily or exclusively uses a Mac to get an Android phone. With Windows and an iPhone, there is no ecosystem, but rather a rickety bridge between worlds, called iTunes.
Native features on the iPhone work really well, but I also think there's an unnecessary aversion to third-party software. Kind of like Android phones in general, there are crappy ones and good ones. While I understand that the mismash can be a burden to sort through to find the solutions you like best, the only difference between a native app and a well-done third-party app is that the latter is easier to uninstall. Neither me nor my wife have had any issue building our own ecosystem in Android.

Calls/Text/Etc - iMessage is a properly robust messaging system that truly works - I haven't found one better. Calls are the same as android, though Facetime is nearly flawless (provided your connection is fine). Nothing on Android comes close to that.
Yeah, it's a little perplexing what Google has been up to. We're all praying for Allo to make sense.

guess I will check prices on the Google phones.
Keep an eye on the October 4 date speculated for the official announcement of the phones. Will be pixel and pixel xl. 5in and 5.5in devices respectively. Here's a little more info
quote:
The Pixel (Sailfish) and Pixel XL (Marlin) might be the only Android handsets to ship with the updated Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor on board in the US. The news comes from Android Police’s David Ruddock, who took to Twitter to explain Google’s thinking behind the Pixel line.
“By the way, as far as I can tell, the Pixels will by the first US devices with Snapdragon 821 by a long shot. No one else is using it,” he said.
“Pixel phones will have exclusive Google support, exclusive software features, and exclusive financing options,” he also noted. “Google is going for it.”
“So, if you’re the person who wanted Google to ‘really get out there and market their phones,’ you may finally see your wish granted,” Ruddock added.
As for prices, Google “is getting out of the ‘cheap phone’ business at this point,” he said. “This one is more hearsay: price point being thrown around for Pixel XL is $649. Not clear if that’s 32GB or 128GB.”

This is my reason. When I was in college I got my first smartphone and it was a Samsung Galaxy I think but it was an android device. After not even 6 months the phone became so laggy and slow, it was unbearable.
Yup had one for a work phone and loved it. Worked for 6 months then changed jobs. Bought the S6 and at about one year an automatic software update happened and its slow as frick. I constantly have to lock the phone if it freezes, close the app and reopen whatever I was in.

I wasn't planning on getting this one, but I may do it anyway. Dropped my Nexus 6 the other day, waist height, landed on a corner on my floor (which is currently concrete) and broke the glass. First smartphone glass I've broken in 9 years. Bothers the hell out of me even though it still works. Moto charges $175 for the repair. Even if I change it myself, Nexus 6 LCD assemblies are $150+ and have not come down in price whatsoever.

What are you using right now? 6p?
Still rockin' my 5x. I'll probably be good with it for a little while. I am tempted to sell my 5x and get a 6p but I like the size of the 5x so much.

I'm definitely hopping in on whatever the Sailfish winds up being. I'm sick of my humongous N6 and I find it starting to get slow in some apps.

Yeah, the CPU is showing its age in a few games for sure. Other than that, it's still running smoothly. I wouldn't mind a slightly smaller screen so my thumb could reach the other side comfortably. You wouldn't want to consider the Marlin? It's the larger of the two but is going to be a 5.5" screen I believe. I don't think I could go any smaller than that now.

I have my 128gb graphite 6p I am considering selling when I get the Pixel XL. Its already rooted running Pure Nexus and Francos kernel. Been in a spiegen slim armor from day one.

I don't even game on my phone.. I find it a little sluggish in some apps like Snapchat and when I'm multitasking.
And no, I am pretty set on the Sailfish assuming the hardware is identical to the Marlin. I don't watch many videos nor game on my phone, so the bigger screen doesn't do much for me besides get in the way.

What is the main reason Apple owners don't use an Android device?
I've only ever had Android devices, so this is spoken by someone who gets sputtering mad at how frustrating the Apple experience is whenever he has to do something with one of those devices. However, I'll try to be objective:
iPhone pros:
-Airdrop - still baffles me that Google can't have a version of this
-FaceTime - Duo is getting close, but still not quite there
iPhone can't-takes:
-no app drawer - I wondered for years why iPhones have such cluttered desktops. I only recently learned that they don't have an app drawer. Just seems stupid to me
-no Swype - OK, they have it now. But I could never understand typing when Swype existed.
-stupid button - I have never had an Android phone that has a hard button (currently using 5X). The iPhone button is a miserable piece of shite.
-total lack of "intuitiveness" - despite this inane talking point which we are perpetually pounded into oblivion with, I truly don't see why people say Apple is easier to use than Google. Simply going "back" while browsing or using youtube or whatever is a mind-bending chore on an iPhone - and crushingly easy on Android.

My gf cannot use tech whatsoever. So I'm forced to do things for her on her iPhone all the time. I make this comment all the time, but it occurred yet again yesterday when trying to get her a podcast app.
Go to app store, have to login. She doesn't know PW. Go to some Apple website to reset. Create PW filling all the parameters (number, cap letter, etc). Not good enough despite meeting requirements, so eventually come up with something Apple thinks is sufficient. Back to App Store, login. Try to purchase, but must verify payment. Get out card, reenter card number/info. Doesn't download, have to go find it and try and download again. Must accept new terms and conditions. Doesn't download, go find app and try again.
Part of it is her/my fault for not knowing the PW, but for frick's sake Apple is unnecessarily annoying. It probably took a full 5 minutes to start an app download, which just baffles me.
It mimicked my experience trying to sign up for Apple Music for android earlier this year. Holy shite what a nightmare.

I'd kill myself if I had to go through that every time. Unless it's my first download of a restart, I just use touchID to verify purchase. First purchase requires password. Tell your girlfriend to remember her shite.
Require that much to verify who you are when you don't remember your shite isn't necessarily a bad thing either.

Why do that when you have Play Music? (which was another annoying thing - I'd been enjoying Play Music for 2 years before Apple Music was announced and the media acted like it was the 2nd coming.)

There is a built in podcast app, it's free and installed by default, so you may have gone through all of that trouble for nothing. Also, the credit card verification isn't normal, it must have been a long time since she used the appstore. You do need to know your password, but that's the only hoop you normally have to jump through, and you get to use TouchID after you've entered your password once unless you restart.
Some of BigScrub's complaints also seemed to be based on just not knowing the interface. No there is no official back button, but swiping right to go back is quite easy and very intuitive once you know that's how it's done in most apps.
They're actually pretty comparable OSes and I've never gotten why some people get any personal satisfaction out of choosing one over the other. You bought the phone you like better, good for you, nobody else really cares.

Apple uses it's own everything. Android subcontracts a bunch of shittiness. Bottom line!

Biggest iPhone deal breaker for me. I love a clean desktop.

Yeah, cherry picking one idiotic post totally proves that. Some of the dumbest people on the planet own Android and some of the most successful own iPhone if you want to cherry pick.
