I am being told by GoDaddy, my email host, that I can not use this older version of Outlook anymore. Is this true? I'm suspicious because it looks like GoDaddy is owned or affiliated with Microsoft.

Office 2010 isn't updated anymore. Microsoft dropped security support in 2020. Now almost 2 years later, your installed Office 2010 client doesn't support newer authentication and encryption standards. Servers need to enforce these standards to maintain proper security.

GoDaddy isn't arbitrarily enforcing this on you because of some affiliation with Microsoft.

12 year old software. Probably not the best idea to be using that anyway.

I'm using a 25 year old AutoCad version that is better for 2d drafting than anything autodesk has released since. I have the latest autocad just so I can convert files.

If you're so attached to the features in Outlook that you wouldn't switch to a free email program like Windows Mail or Thunderbird, then you should probably upgrade. You've definitely gotten your money's worth out of it. As others have said, there are security protocols that keep changing and eventually aren't going to be supported by your version since MS stopped patching it. If Godaddy is telling you can't use it AND they aren't the people you buy Office from, then it's probably because of something like this.

It looks like Microsoft Office 2021 is the most current standalone version if you don't want to shift to the subscription model.

25 year old cad doesn't leave gaping security holes in your PC.

Yea, I found some info on the security issues. The GoDaddy people I was chatting with were being very vague about why I needed to upgrade and trying to upsale me on other products. I guess I'll upgrade or go the subscription route.

Are you my neighbor? He asked me to help him with his emails tonight. Get over there and he had his Gmail forwarded to Outlook 2010 and it wasn’t working. I said, “Buddy.. there’s an easier way to do this.” Pulled up Gmail in Chrome and added it to the Bookmark Bar. Also, he’s 80 years old

Naw, GoDaddy hosts my business web site and email. And if anyone wants to suggest a good but less expensive option I'm all ears. My web site is just an information site, no biz done through it.

GoDaddy is forcing all clients to merge to Microsoft 365 I believe. It's not just you
