I ask this in the majority of the iphone/android pissing match threads where people just shite all over iphones:

What do you people with androids do with your phones that someone with an iphone can't do? I mean in your daily life. 99% of people frick around on the internet/social media, text and take phone calls every now now then.

I don't get it.

I've been Android for years....in fact the only iPhones I had was the OG and the 3G.

After the 3G and up through probably just a couple years ago there was a lot that Android did that Apple didn't do. Now I think Apple has finally caught up and surpassed Android in some areas.

Yes this is me admitting that when I purchase my next phone at the end of this year...the 12 will be in the top 3-4 on that list.

I’ll take a stab, even though I now use an iPhone, I generally find the interface of android easier to navigate but that doesn’t answer your question.

Some things that I used on a daily basis with android, that aren’t available on iPhone are, home screen widgets. I used them all the time on android, but don’t have any setup on my iPhone. I feel like if I have to enter a different screen to use a widget, it’s lost its purpose. I also used pip and split screen mode daily. It is very helpful to have two apps open at once, or to have a YouTube video going and open chrome to look something up.

Those are just the first couple I could think of at the moment, And thankfully those are finally coming to IOS next year. Now if only they would let me place apps anywhere on the homescreen, Apple would really be catching up

Congrats on having Animojis. Lol.

I use Signal, but Android Messages has had RCS for a while now.

Not being a slave to imessage and locked into their system when you get a new phone. The way they have you jump through hoops in order to be "removed" from their system should be illegal.

I don’t know if you realize it or not, but there are many androids out there with extremely incredible cameras, some even better than iPhones. Including pixels which can be had for $400. The problem with videos on android, is trying to text them to people, but in 2020, there are several options, including RCS, for sending videos to people

Another problem android has is the variety of devices and hardware their apps have to support.

Xcode developers know the iOS app is only going to be supported on like 5 versions of the iPhone, so they can optimize the apps for the hardware better.

Have widgets on a homescreen for a decade already.

I get that. That’s great. But how does that make that phone better than an iPhone? What do you do that an iPhone can’t? Is it the one or two less clicks?

But you asked what it can do, not what makes it better. And clearly Apple thinks home screen widgets make the user experience better or else they wouldn’t be implementing it.

So ultimately you can check the weather or whatever, you just have a different set of steps to get there. That's what I'm asking. Androids and iphones all do the same shite and 98% of all phone users use them for same mundane functions. It gets comical when people are so passionate about the phone wars.

Well there are several other things you can do on an android, such as picture in picture, or split screen apps. Both are really useful features that I missed when I switched to Apple.

But I do agree that iOS and android are much more similar these days than different.

Edit: comparing an iPhone to a flagship android is like comparing a Porsche to a corvette. They are both cars, they both go really fast, but they have different ways of doing it and different people prefer one over the other
