I would assume he means putting the apps literally anywhere on the screen you want, or not on a home screen at all. On Android, you can put apps anywhere, not top to bottom like iOS. I prefer to have my home screen blank with a calendar and weather widget. Then my next screen has my frequently used apps from bottom to top. The top to bottom placing of apps is just weird to me now that phones are bigger. Makes one handed use on iOS more difficult.
And apps that I rarely use are kept in the app drawer so I only have to see them when I need to use them
Honestly, this is one of the biggest reasons I stay with Android. The app drawer and on screen widgets.

I just bury barely used apps in folders off on a side screen.
I've also gotten a lot better of deleting crap apps I barely/never use on Apple than Android because of the no app drawer.

Click on “back ups” and see what it is. Usually it’s apps and the stuff stored in the apps. For instance, the app I use to fly my drone also stores video and photos. So the back for that app is huge.

I am pretty religious about deleting apps I rarely use. And the new files system on Android will actually prompt you to delete apps if you haven't opened them in a certain amount of time.
I still just do not understand why ios won't let you place apps wherever you want. Like having apps at the top of a 6.1" screen seems crazy to me. I have all my apps on the bottom half of the screen.
But it doesn't bother my wife at all, which is why I always say that Android and iPhone are both so advanced now it's really just a matter of personal preference.

I put the apps I am more likely to use in landscape at the top.

Gotcha, like I said, it's all personal preference. I have landscape turned off for my home screen. I only have 2 apps that I ever use landscape on anyway.

iOS 13 finally makes it possible to use your iPhone and CarPlay simultaneously. This is obviously not recommended if you’re driving, but it allows a passenger to play DJ on your iPhone, use your apps, and do almost anything else without killing CarPlay.
Finally
ETA: CarPlay got a big upgrade too

Just downloaded it. Already liking the shortcuts. Trying out Dark Mode but it’ll take some getting used to.

You can also set it to just come on at night when it's easier on the eyes than regular mode.

I can't stand the white background. This update made the switch from Android nice.

I updated & wish I’d waited till .1.... FaceID on my X stopped working as soon as I updated. Apple can’t fix it over the phone so I’m going into the store tomorrow.
ETA: It was HW related, Apple swapped it under warranty.

No problems with my Face ID on an X

It’s downloaded but it’s been on “preparing update” for 30 min now. Any reason behind that?

Did it earlier. Love the dark mode and swipe keyboard

That's just to your phone. It's been working in beta for awhile now perfectly.

What exactly does Shortcuts do?
I just got a 11 Pro from a 7, so not sure how to do it on this phone, but on my 7 you could double tap the home button and it brings the top of the screen down.

Put your thumb an inch from the bottom and swipe down.
