There is no fiber where I live and the only thing we have is an ATT hot spot which is ok- but ADT wants to set us up a security camera, and they need us to get a better internet system. What is a good option?

if you cant get a fixed wireless access (FWA) provider in your area, it will be tough sledding. T-mobile and Verizon are good places to start. At&t will be rolling out FWA in rural areas they offer DSL very soon.

avoid satellite services, including low-orbit satellite services.

Well the first recommendation is to ditch ADT.

Whatever they are wanting to do they are ripping you off.

What's wrong with starlink?

I'll third that rec, get rid of ADT. A camera that requires internet service to work is not a security camera. Also there are far cheaper services than ADT.

Do NOT go with satellite internet like DirecWay/HughesNet.

Trust me, I grew up where this was the only option.

Is that Elon's company. There's a waiting list but supposedly better than Hughes IIRC.

I believe the viasat launch was moved back to today, but IMO that should be a last resort. Viasat uses geostationary satellites so as a result ping times will be... astronomical

It keeps getting worse and worse. Everything they originally promised has evaporated. They continue to reduce data allowances and the network performance has really gone downhill with increased subscribers. The platform is just not scaling well.

Going to try T-mobile internet after trying verizon for the last few months which is awful and only 8mb. Still on the starlink waiting list.

Tmobile 5g seems to have the best speeds (for most). Obviously it's just about where you're located in relation to your tower.

I have a Ring alarm system at my guesthouse including cameras, and use a Verizon hot spot for the net. Works fine.

I’m also in a rural area with no wired high speed Internet. At my house I have ATT Fixed Wireless and although I despise ATT in general, this service is damn good for $70ish per month.

~2 miles from t-mobile tower and speed is 80-100mb with 0 drops and showing a "weak" signal. For $50/mos we have have a winner! 2 week trial starting off on great!

Anyone know how accurate the TMobile 5g coverage map is? It shows my home address is in the 5g Ultra Capacity coverage area, but when I enter my address for the TMobile Home Internet, it says not available and to enter email address for notification when it’s available.

We have t-mobile 5g that we use as a back up. I put my kids TV's and consoles on it and it seems to be good enough for streaming and gaming. I got it because they offered it for $25/month for life.

I just did a speed test on it, I got 70/6 but it is the middle of the day on Saturday. It will slow to 15/2 during peak times but it still works to stream.

Just because you are in a covered area doesn't mean they will let you get it. They limit it per tower. Sign up for the 4g internet and then switch later, it will jump you to the top of the list for 5g.
