In process of building a house, cameras etc? Update and more questions

As the title says, framing is close to done.
Should I have someone come in and "prewire" or are there wireless systems good enough to do via wifi, etc?
Any suggestions welcome!
Will have one outbuilding that needs support, about 80' from the house.
thanks!

Prewire anything and everything you can.

Run Cat 6 to anywhere you’d want a camera (for POE cameras)
Bury some conduit with a few cat 6 runs in there too

As someone else mentioned, run Cat6 to all anticipated camera locations (immediate and future needs). Run 2 drops to each room as well. Maybe identify a place like laundry room or closet where you can centrally locate all your primary IT equipment so all cable runs terminate there. I'm getting ready to move my crap to a small rack in the laundry room in the coming months.

My buddy just built a house and had them put outdoor electrical outlets under the soffit around his house for cameras and christmas lights and I thought that was a really good idea.

we splurged and had someone come in a prewire. we don't have to activate everything right away if we wanted to save some more first. he came in right after the electricians roughed in.
we wired cat6 EVERYWHERE (alarms for doors, door bell cam, cameras, tv's, home theater, 4 smart thermostats). also did a few WAPs, doing a structured wiring panel to house everything, and dedicated media closet.
3800sf house, 2 floors, $4100.

Pre-wire for a few cameras and/or Christmas lights.
Congrats on the new house!

Thanks everyone.

Hey Brother, seems you got good advice.
Keep it between the ditches!

I ran wire to all the places that made sense to do and plan to use POE for cameras. I also added extra wiring for AP's, and ran two lines to a detached garage, one for use, and one for spare.
I'm quite sure I have way more wire than I need, but would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
I wanted to have wired connections for TV's and work space locations, everything else can be wireless. Was able to just secure the new Netgear Orbi wifi 6 equipment, so super excited about having that.

Go on amazon, buy a 1000' of cat6, speaker wire, and whatever cable security cameras use. Once the electricians are finished doing their part buy single gang boxes and follow the same path they went with the wiring for your drops. Makes your life significantly easier - and get a rolling scaffold for the ceiling. I'd also recommend picking a spot to have a tech rack, as others have stated.
Run all your coax into this room as well. You can have your router and cable box setup there. Have the electricians drop 2 double gang boxes or more if you have that much tech. On our rack I have the kitchen & living room amps, night owl receiver/monitor, cloud server, router, cable boxes, and home security system on the rack. Makes life easy when something goes out.

Kind of related but I know of two homes being built right now and the price that was quoted for ethernet drops was ridiculous. $75 a drop. I feel like I should open up a side hustle and do them for $40-50 a drop and make out like a bandit.

My electrician charged $30/drop. Still high, but not awful, and I didn't have time to do it. I did decide to only do one drop per location, figuring I could put a switch if I needed more than one.

I’m not sure but putting jacks and tidying up after is the easiest part about that process to me. Just seemed expensive

So any recommendations for someone near Baton Rouge/Prairieville to do this?
I'm sure I could do it, just hard to squeeze everything building a house and work in.
But I still might.

So... if I run Cat6 to anywhere I want a camera, and Cat6 to anywhere I want a TV, and Cat6 to where my thermostat goes, I should be good?
I realize speaker wire to where speakers go.
And I guess I need to coax to where the TV's and modem go?

I ran 1.25 or 1.5 inch conduit from the attic down the walls where I was going to put my TV's to an orange low voltage box. let it stick up in the attic about a ft. or 2 so it is above the insulation. It is super easy to run Cat6 or coax this way. I put a 4 port keystone jack cover plate with 2 cat 6 jacks, one coax, and one HDMI jack. All my bedroom TV's are hung around 5.5 to 6ft above floor. I put some 2x12 blocks between studs to have somthing solid to attach the mounts to on each side of the low voltage and receptacle to not worry about having to hit a stud with mounting bolts. Install electrical receptacle there too so no exposed wiring. You dont need cat 6 to your thermostat, just get your AC guy to run a 5 or 6 conductor there as most wifi tsats take a common wire to work for power from the air handler.
