I don't play games so I probably won't notice the difference on speeds.

I really like my Pixel 5. Don't know much about the OnePlus.

I don't think this sentiment from computers carries over to phones. At least not yet. I still find the responsiveness and snappiness of phones very noticeable when climbing up the spec tree. For that reason, I think the Pixel 5 was a huge miss by choosing to compete at the mid-tier level, not flagship, and then using the Snapdragon 765 and non-120hz display, placing it at the bottom of the mid-level tier from a hardware perspective. I don't have any experience with the Oneplus 8, but it looks like it has much better specs.

didnt google completely contradict themselves and now are saying current pixel owners will continue to get unlimited photo storage for [x]* amount of time.

x = a random number google will pull out of their arse 3 months from now.

I have the Pixel 4a 5g and so far love it. The google features on their Android just makes good sense. Lots of AI built into the google features and the camera is incredible. Not sure why they ding the pixel camera.

I got mine through TMobile for $350 a few weeks ago and could not pass that deal up.

They initially said free storage would go away for all, but then backpedaled to say gen 1-5 of the pixels could keep the free storage, but 6 and beyond would not have it.

I've been a #teampixel member for several upgrades now, but my 3xl battery is limping along after 2.5 years, and I don't think I'm going to get another pixel because I don't like where they're going. Despite my reservations about OneUI, I think I'm going S21U simply because of S pen support.

I was a Pixel guy too but didn't like the recent generations. Switched to S20. You'll love OneUI. It's mostly clean. Not too much bloat.

I have one of those and love it. I am still trying to figure out all of the capabilities of the camera. The zoom is insane on that thing.

Not familiar with the Oneplus 8, but I'm pretty happy with my Pixel 5. Love the camera.

The Pixel 5 is as responsive as any phone I've had in day to day usage. You are correct that it has a more "midrange" processor and the actual camera hardware isn't as exotic. I had the Pixel 4xl before it (DID have flagship specs), a Samsung Note 9 (flagship), then the OG Pixel before that.

I don't think "specs" matter as much on the Pixel line as they might with Samsung, where you have to overcome some of the Samsung bloat--yes you might notice more degradation with a midrange/budget Samsung. I just think they aren't as optimized.

Never had a One Plus but over the years they've offered compelling value on, on paper.
