Every since my older Fire TV cube died, I’ve had to use a Fire stick and performance is lacking in comparison.

Im considering the Apple TV box versus latest Fire TV cube.

Anyone tried the two - which works better?
I use LAN ethernet connection to a reliable older Panasonic Plasma.

I would choose a Shield TV if it's within your budget. Next would be the Apple TV. I've always found the Fire devices slow and clunky.

I've tried everything and Apple TV has always worked best for me, especially the network components, much better than Fire Cube or stick.

apple TV is better if you want perfect frame rate matching on a wider range of services and you want a clean simple home screen.

FireTV is cheaper.

All around the apple TV 4k is a much better device for "most" things (if you want to use Kodi, go FireTV). If all you do is use streaming services Apple is better but maybe not worth the increased costs. If you get into things like playing media on your LAN, there are some specific use cases where fireTV will be better than apple.

I've had my Apple TV for 6 years now and it's still running just as good as the day I bought it.

I've had to replace 3 Fire TVs in that same time span.

For me, Fire-anything would be dead last for my main streaming device. I use the Shield Pro and have a couple firesticks for a couple lesser used TVs and I travel with one. I replace the firesticks as needed when they go on deep sale. Apple TV is not an option for me since I use Kodi and also do IPTV, so haven't messed with one of those in quite awhile. However, the Apple TV does seem comparable to the Shield Pro if you are a less adventurous streamer.

Shield if you are an Android person or want to use nefarious streaming sites.

Apple if you are an Apple person and especially if you have a lot of content in iTunes

Roku Ultra is you want something simple, stable, cheap

Firestick if you want to be disappointed

Apple has arguably the best under-interface but IMO you can get used to any of them. Both Roku and Sheild need a interface update.

I like my Apple TV 4K. Can connect it to my AirPods when kids are around and there may be some language on a show I’m watching…or when they are just being loud.

I’ve tried many and Apple TV 4K with a LAN plugged in is as good I’ve ever found. Looks great and works all the time.

I use mine in Dolby Vision on a 77 Sony A80J.

Fire Cube is garbage. I hate their ecosystem. Unfortunately, I bought in to the hype and have a house full, so I am sticking with it.
