I was checking out the genie vs hopper comparison on DirectTV's website and had a question about the "Catch up on past episodes as far back as 5 weeks" feature. Is this like Dish's Prime Time Anytime feature, but just goes further back?

Will the SECN be available through the WatchESPN app?

ETA: If so, I may do DTV and use WatchESPN for SECN games I want to watch.

No way dtv doesn't get the sec nwork when it's all said and done. Too many people (myself included) would be dropping dtv like its hot if that's the case come the end of August.

Yes, the SEC Network will be available via the WatchESPN app but, there's a catch. The SEC Network will stream to only those with it included in their provider's program package via the WatchESPN app. DirecTV doesn't presently have an agreement for providing WatchESPN authorization at all and, without carrying the SEC Network, wouldn't do any good anyway. This will *probably* sort itself out at some point but why not simply go with Dish if you don't have satellite service now? The hardware is fantastic, programming is at least equal plus, the ability to watch ANYTHING (live, recorded or on-demand) on mobile devices.

Just switched from directv to dish about a month ago and couldn't be happier. Got the hopper with the built in slingbox and can watch anything live or on my DVR on my iphone or ipad from anywhere. Much better than anything direct can offer.

Here's a $50 credit if you choose DISH:

Looking for one that saves us both some bucks. I'm about to go with Dish at the camp. Thx.

They running any Sunday NFL Ticket specials for the coming season?

Who needs NFL ticket when you have REDzone?

Those who pay for NFL ticket and do not have 4-5 tv's going on at once, are pissing money away.

directv just launched a feature where you can go to any channel and go back on the guide 72 hours and watch any show

so example, I could go back to Friday night and watch shark tank or something on A&E, etc.

pretty sweet

That's cool...so I wouldn't have to set the DVR?

We just made the switch to Direct and it basically cut my Cox bill in half and I still get all the channels I want plus some perks I didn't have with Cox.

so fricking lame.

i admit they're getting there..but this whole bullshite "you forget to record something too bad" mentality is rooted in the last century.

we have torrents you fricksticks. your lame-arse DVR won't allow me to watch shite that I ALREADY frickING PAID FOR then ima gonna find me a nice HD commercial-free rip and watch it anyway.

netflix gets it.

google music & spotify get it.

cable & sat companies...not so much.

frick them and their shitty product. don't make me feel bad that i grabbed a copy of last week's episode of "Who's the Boss" off the web simply because Obama pre-empted the show i tried to record on the DVR or the local news cut in because we had a storm coming.

/rant

/yes i feel better now

correct me if i'm wrong, but i think this only applies to things that are offered on-demand

if you are searching the guide and a rerun of a show is playing later today, you can play it now if its on demand

the little icon on the guide just lets you know that its available to download for instant viewing, and links you directly to it

i don't think it applies to all programming....i.e. you cant go back and watch the local 5pm news the next day

There's tons of websites out there to help you make a decision.
Just make sure you check to see if there is a built-in bias.... like a vendor for one of the other.
