I talked with AT&T about switching to uverse today. It seems like a great deal. Lower prices on TV/Internet and AT&T will cover my cancellation fee to leave COX.

My question is is it worth it? For those who have had both, what are the pros and cons?

Any help or advice is appreciated.

TIA

Argument always comes down to COX having MUCH faster internet and AT&T having better deals on content.

Both suck at service.

AT&T said they have the quickest internet service in the BR area because nobody is jumping on and off the network? Said they don't have the slow downs that cox has. I have noticed slow downs with cox but don't have any idea about how AT&T is.

This and /thread. Been discussed at length in multiple threads on the tech board. Cox for Internet. U-Verse for TV.

We've had uverse almost since we've been in Oklahoma. We like it better than cox even though their starting speeds are slower. We have two home computers that are used for gaming, 2 ps3's, a shite ton of tablets that all stream netflix constantly and never have had an issue with performance. We've been very happy with them.

Might be a dumb question but what exactly is "starting speed"?

Comparable packages between the two companies...base package vs base package. Hope that helps.

If you're wanting to know the speeds for the base packages, I have no idea.

The prices aren't very comparable. I'd be saving about $50/month with AT&T.

What do you like about AT&T vs cox?

It took awhile for AT&T to get their install working correctly, but once they did I haven't looked back. Better product (tv), lower price, and have had no more quality issues.

What makes their tv product better? Sorry for all the questions. I just want to make sure I have as much info as possible before making a move.

We prefer the layout for cable better with AT&T. Internet is not on the same line as phone and cable. Cox used to pixelate a lot when we were watching tv. Especially during sporting events. AT&T doesn't do that.

The reception is better on multiple tvs. Being able to record more than 2 shows simultaneously is a big plus. AT&T modem is their WiFi.

I have Cox for internet and DirectTV. I can record 5 shows at the same time and watch them in any room of the house. Can also watch anything online if I want to

Cox had a major problem Thursday. Someone cut the wrong wire and shut down all services for the entire southeast Louisiana. Had it fixed in a few hours though, but it was funny. One thing that sucks is that the customer service people were saying everything was fine and they hadn't heard anything about a problem the entire time. They were obviously lying because five or six TD'ers called in about it, and there were multiple maps online showing the outage

Choosing between cox and AT&T is like choosing to vote for Obama or Romney. Both are terrible, but, which one is the lesser of two evils?!?

I have Cox contour and record 6 HD shows at a time a view them in all my other TVs. Pretty happy with this setup, plus Internet is fast.
