Cord-cutting question

I'm done with COX. What is the best way to go about cord-cutting? I think I'm going to buy a smart tv to stream different services through the tv. How do you get football games tho? Do I have to get cbs+ and foxsports memberships?

YoutubeTV has all the sports you should need

We use Hulu live for games.

I use Hulu Live and need nothing else for locals, sports, and basic cable channels.

Be careful because you start adding up subscription services and you're back where you started.
I like Youtube TV.
Siblings and I have been discussion this for a while now but I think we're going to all chip in for an app package I'll put together that will save us all.

Step 1. Good high speed internet
Step 2. Smart TV or add a Roku
Step 3. For a traditional cable feel, get a package from Hulu live or YouTube TV. You should have some locals and the usual cable sports.
Step 4. If there are some local affiliates you can't live without, get an HD antenna off Amazon, set it up in your attic, and use your existing coaxial cable network to rout it to your Tv's. It'll get you the locals in HD if it's any good.

Haven't decided yet. I may need to just keep COX for internet. I have my own modem but haven't really looked into other options for that yet.

I had them repeat several times, to the penny, exactly what my monthly bill would be with fees included. They lied. I canceled all of it. Luckily I had an alternative in my area, Eatel, who has never lied to me.

If you can get AT&T Fiber, you can get it through them or a reseller. I use toast.net. Killer internet.

I just tried to do the same thing. The problem which I found is COX raised their internet prices and dropped TV prices. You're gonna come out to the same price if you're paying $130 for gigablast plus a few streaming subscriptions.

Always one thing to keep in mind while cord cutting: see if you have an alternate internet provider in your area.
If not, your current provider is all too aware of what you are doing and will jack up the price of internet by quite a bit, so you will end up paying the same, or even more, for internet + subscription services.

69.99 for 1GB with Cox
YouTubeTV (they have all the locals and all the sports)
Netflix and Amazon Prime.
YouTubeTV feels like cable, so it will start playing as soon as you turn your TV on and go to the last channel or the channel you watch the most during that time of day. Very nice.

nobody really needs 1Gbps either. I work from home and 100Mbps is more than enough for my work and I'm a heavy network user due to my CAD software. I also have 3 kids doing school from home all day. I can do 4+ streams of 4k HDR at a time with no issues.
Cable cutters should be really looking at internet packages in the 100-250Mbps range if they have a family and if they are individual look for something in the 25-50Mbps range. It doesn't make sense to be looking to save $ on TV but not on internet too.

Att&T offers basic internet in my area for $35/month. I'll likely just go with that and Youtube TV. It sounds like that is a great option and I knew nothing about it. So thanks a lot to the posters on here. I appreciate it.

Where are you getting 1gps for $69 from Cox? The problem with the lower tiers is now they are sending out low data warnings. Once they try to actually charge for overages the prices will be steep.
