I currently have an iPhone 5S. I don't do much on my phone except talk, text, check e-mail, social media, and use simple apps like Waze and Uber. No gaming or anything. It's old and is way behind on iOS, which means it rarely runs the latest apps, but it has worked well for me.

Our company upgraded our e-mail system, and my phone won't work with the new system. So, I need a new phone.

I'm looking for the cheapest phone out there that will let me continue to do what I do. I don't need the latest or greatest, I don't need a super awesome camera, etc.

I have Sprint. I've never owned an Android but I'm certainly not married to the iPhone. I'm also fine with -pre-owned.

What would be some good suggestions to look for? I'm just going to buy the phone, don't want to lease it or anything. I haven't replaced my phone since companies stopped giving you a free / cheap phone in exchange for a contract, so this is all new to me.

You can get a Pixel 3A for under $300 at Best Buy if you want to try out Android. I think that's a great value for that phone.

This. I went from Iphone to Pixel and really like it. I bought a Pixel 2 XL on Swappa. As far as I can tell it was never used before. No scratches and battery lasts a lot longer than previous Iphone.

Yeah I just did that, got a 3A for $300.00. Seems to be a good deal.

Add my vote to the Pixel 3a....I have the XL and it's a great phone. I'm assuming you know the Android will work with your email system.

buy a new prepaid phone that works on your carrier network. The prepaid phones are always discounted. Don't buy a plan. Just pop in your sim card.

You can get some good phones for under $200.

Yeah, our new IT guy, after he tried to get it to work on my old phone and was unsuccessful, actually suggested i look at a droid because "apple sucks". His words, not mine.

It's through outlook via office 365.

The OnePlus 7 Pro is $500. That's an unbelievable price for one of the best phones out.

If you’re used to the iOS operating system, I would recommend sticking with it. It takes a bit more to properly secure an android phone. And if you’re going to be connecting to a corporate network absolutely don’t get some Chinese android unless you know how to root, debloat, and secure it before you take it to work. Stick with Samsung, Sony, BlackBerry, or the Pixel line if you are going to do that.

Look for an iPhone 7 if you’re looking for cheap, iPhone 8 if you want to be a little bit more future proof.

Define cheap? I've always had good luck buying 1 year old new stock LG flagship. They are really good phones with good specs and don't carry the same resale value as Samsung or Apple.

I'm on lg g6 at the moment but about to upgrade to the v40 probably. That's about $270 it looks like. But you can also find the g7 for around 200, which is going to have a LOT better specs than the prepaid phones of comparable price.

I'm probably in the minority, but I like LGs skin

iPhone 7 will run you about $150 right now, which would be the minimum you need to keep up. You'll run into this same problem again in 18 months though.

I'd say go for the iPhone XR if you want to stay with Apple. That'll last you another 4+ years.

If going Android, I agree with grabbing something from the Pixel line. Cheaper options are the Moto G7 and Samsung A50 - both of which will work well for you for under $250.

Moto g8 should be coming in Feb too but sounds like OP can't wait. G8 looks like a beast of a budget phone besides only 4Gb of RAM

A bit out of your price range but the Microsoft Store on eBay has the Galaxy S9+ for $350
